http://www.animeph.com/spring-2013-new- ... eview-list

Lot of good sequels this season, I'll just highlight a few of the new ones that I find interesting.

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge - I don't know how to describe this one, it's interesting so I'll leave it at that :P

DEVIL SURVIVOR 2 - Might have heard about this one if you'd played the games, this is an anime adaptation of the second game. There's a manga adaptation of the first game. Don't need to have played the games to understand what's going on.

Hataraku Maou-sama! - Hero and evil demon lord battling it out at the start, demon lord is forced to retreat and you know where this one is going to go before the next scene... that's right, demon lord and his general demon find themselves in our world looking very normal with barely any of their old powers. Turns into a great comedy show but wait, there's more! At the end of ep2 the plot is pushed forward so it's more than just a demon lord adjusting to our life.

Karneval - Judging by the art style I'd say this is a shoujo-anime and even the start seems very shounen-ai but turns into an interesting fantasy adventure that's a great watch. It's also one of those anime that has two famous seiyuu "teaming up" so people are making a fuss over it :P

Majestic Prince - Good to see the Gundam SEED art style back and also CG mecha :P This is one of the two mecha series you should be watching this season.

Photokano - High school harem comedy anime about a boy who just got his dad's old camera and took up photography, now there's actually a reason for dodgy camera angles :P It's not as perverted as you'd think, I'd compare it to Amagami SS a little.

Red Data Girl - Looks interesting, 'nough said :P

Suisei no Gargantia - The second mecha anime you should be watching this season. There's a massive battle between mankind and an alien race and this one dude gets in a scuffle trying to do a space jump and ends up being hurtled back to Earth. At this point his humanity thinks the Earth died out due to an ice age and the location of it is currently unknown but some humans somehow managed to survive the ice age and now their technology is much closer to 20th century technology and they're unaware of life outside of earth.

There's probably a few more I could mention, honestly it's a pretty good season so my rule of thumb is to give everything a try (unless it's a sequel that you haven't seen the previous series) and see what you like :)

Try 'Shingeki no Kyojin' (Attack on Titan*) to. Yeah, it's derivative and what not, but I liked Inifinite Stratos and sugami-cat's watching Gargantia... (which I also like)

*not the moon, nor anything from Greek mythology but some kinda of weird humanoid monster. First episode shows the protagonists mom being eaten by one.

Hataraku Maou-sama! (Satan is a part-timer!) Meow!

A wild Asphe appears!

Yeah I'm watching that giant anime, looks pretty good. Don't really see what's derivative about it though :P

The early parts will be very predictable. All the usual cliche plots and characters. I'm not sure how much of the manga they will use in the animation but as scheduled, the anime will end around midway of the manga. So a lot of the darkest parts are left out. It's actually kinda odd that they chose this manga, since it's both ongoing and there's not a lot of material (just 40+ chapters really).

The giant one? Bleh, hate watching an anime that doesn't have an ending, maybe it'll get a second season.

That Valvrave the Vibrator... I mean, Liberate is... interesting. The plot strikes me as something fresh out of Gundam SEED (neutral power building uber mech in secret gets attacked by bad guys making a regular kid pilot the mech and join the war) with every other clichéd anime trope thrown in on top and also vampires. Sounds like it should suck out right but it's still amusing, maybe in a bad way, we'll see.
I just can't sympathize with the main character, bit of a mini-spoiler but he turns himself into a body swapping vampire and pilots the uber mech, kills loads, all to avenge the death of his childhood friend/romantic interest then you find out she didn't die but now he can't confess to her because "I'm a monster and monsters don't have feelings." and cries whilst he says that. I'm sorry but that's hilarious, I laugh at you not feel sorry for you :P

Valvrave... could be another Fractale lol. Most people who watch anime will forgive gaping plot hole or logic valleys but this one is quite 'bad' or even 'odd'. Must be part of the trend in the last two or three years to just 'shock and awe' the viewer enough to get BD sales. At least it's not as bad as Hollywood's obsession with safe sequels.

I'm beginning to like Gargantia a bit more in the meantime. Ah well, no 'A' category anime this year so far.

Oh Fractale, forgot about that one. Certainly was weird, had an interesting plot premise but damn did it get crazyballs later on.

Gargantia I'd put in the A category personally, one of my favourites. Majestic Prince as well, maybe B+ but really enjoying it. Even ignoring the sequels there's quite a few series that I really look forward to seeing the episode as soon as it comes out this season.

You only need to sleep for four hours a day, if you sleep while hugging a kitteh (bonus minutes if the kitteh is extra furry). I use a dog and only sleep 3 hours or so a day (the other 4 hours worth of cat-naps do NOT count).

IRL, Dog > Cat.

A dog is usually larger. So if you use one as a pillow, you won't make the nocturnal mistake of muzzling the 'wrong' end (plus the wrong end of a dog comes with a built in olfactory alarm). You can hug one part of the dog and still have something to put your cheek against. Plus the tail can be used as a hair-stay.

A dog can be both cleaner and smell better. i.e. I use my own shampoo on the dog. He seems to know the effects and after a bath/shampoo, will run to all the neighbours for extra hugs and pattings (plus for a dog, "You smell great!" is a rare treat.)

When a dog has a nightmare (or a really exiting dream), you don't wake up with vertical scratches on your cheek(s). A cat having a nightmare means you getting one of your own at the nearby hospital (and good luck finding one that's open on the weekends in Japan. Watashi no neko, tatakai desho?).

A dog will both come to you, and go away. On command. Despite what happened to him last night. And the night before... and all the previous nights.

A dog doesn't have mood swings. Or hairballs.

Cats are cuter, 'nough said :P

Also I understand every word of that Japanese sentence, just can't piece it together correctly

"Had a fight with my cat, right?"?

Dogs vs. cats, cuddle factors only.

Default, cats = 1. Some animals are GREAT cuddlers but I can't count outliers.

Cat sized dogs -1.

Long hair either spices +1.

Bully dogs -1. This is because they are short haired and want to guard if they can't fight. They rarely stay on the bed.

Guardians -1. They rarely stay on the bed.

Big dogs +1. Asphe nailed it. (Big dog is subjective. You don't have to bend down to pet a big dog. How tall are you?)

If I think of others I will edit.

Dog or cat doesn't matter, I love both. Except for small types of dogs, for some reason I do not really like those.
Some of those I find downright scary even...
But, my lifestyle doesn't allow me to have pets unfortunately. I live alone and am away from home too much and such.

I know things like feeding won't be much of an issue as there are these nifty automatic feeding options, and I can rely on my family when I am away for longer periods, but there's also the necesarry attention part.
They need cuddles, and sometimes the occasional scolding too. Yes, even cats.
Owner's full-time job + social life + frequent weekends away + vacations = a very unhappy pet.

As for the sleep thing... I organize an anual weekend long Anime convention with our next one taking place in 3 weeks, what is this sleep you speak of?

My friend's brother's cat is the worst house (or flat) cat ever. He hates interaction with people, happy to come up and sniff your hand or feet but try and pet him and he'll bolt. What good is a cat you can't pet? :P

Anyways this is an anime thread, not a pet one :P

Date A Live is turning out surprisingly better than anticipated. Imagine merging a date sim with a fantasy/adventure and you have this, the main character is given 4 options by the specialist team when talking to these "spirit" girls with the ultimate goal of dating them so they'd stop accidentally blowing up the country. The funny thing is the option they tell him to choose always gets him in trouble :P

But that's the raison d'etre of the whole show ^-^. You got to love the Japanese, their anime caters to all the known fetishes and quite a few I never knew existed.

I don't mean the obvious loli stuff, but 'kill cute girls in the goriest possible way', yep.. they got it. Have giants eat lots of humans with blood everywhere... yep, got that... I'd continue but I'm feeling hungry, so I'll grab my dog and go out (I have to PAY for MY food but the vendors at the local arcade feed him for free).

I bet I could eat for free too if I wore some nekomimi, added a tail and had this vacuous look on my face. Or get picked up by the wrong kind of people.

Arata Kangatari, anyone watched that? I dl'ed the first few episodes but haven't watched any (this weekend is Bounty Hunting on GoIO, open beta for Star Trek Online's new Romulan Legacy and double everything in Neverwinter).

Sugami-meow, go watch it and report!

There's a fetish for giants eating people? Want gore, check this out http://youtu.be/xbBrsUpKcWw from Blood-C, this was all censored when I watched it :P I did a mini review on it a bit back, the movie was pretty good (and has boobs) but the end didn't make a whole lot of sense :P

Arata whatever isn't very interesting, strikes me as your generic boy gets mystically transported to another world fantasy adventure series. It's not bad but it's not very good either. Kinda like Ixion Saga DT but without the humour.
