Agreed. THF pullers should use 'rang for the convienience of no ammo usage. They also have short delays (longer than ammo thrown weapons but shorter than marksman and archery weapons) which means you'll not be standing there waiting to range attack forever.

At 18 I'd get a Small Sword. It's pretty cheap, has acceptable damage and delay, and adds +2 DEX.

My 2 gil on this is don't use dagger till about 30 or so. @30 you can get NIN quest done, then you'll have access to dual wield (after you level NIN of course).
