I'm not against someone choosing to play a smn/rdm, but I thought I would point out the differences between that and smn/whm and also point out what you might expect others want in a summoner. A red mage sub-job often works out well when you're playing solo for the quick recast of summons, greater d...

I find it very very hard to believe any smn/xxx could've been the only healer in the dunes. Cure I doesn't stretch very far and if your summoning at the same time your mp runs out very very quickly. if I'm wrong and you did it and were good at being Main healer then congratulations! Not many ppl ca...

A few other statements I'd like to make in reply to things other people have said: Pty Ldr says he'll start healing instead of just smning...I double check his sub. I'd just assumed he had subbed whm like most smns do. /rdm... Oh yay! He can toss in a cure or a dia once a battle...big freakin...

A prize will be given to anyone who can name the FIRST TV SF series. Hint, early 1950s. Before the transistor was even invented. Yes we DID have TV way back in the neolithic era. :D I couldn't resist putting my Google skills to work ;) The answer is: Captain Video and His Video Rangers which first ...

Continuing with being off topic... :D I tried soloing spiders as a 45 smn/whm in the Western Altepa desert with Fenrir. I fought along with Fenrir as much as I could, liberally using Blink and Regen for when I drew hate (one sickle slash that gets through blink, mind you, and it could be all over). ...

Yes, when Chains first came out, you needed a full alliance to beat a Memory Receptacle comfortably. I remember going to Holla as one of 6 summoners in an alliance of 18. We'd all throw Carby at the Receptacle and it took a few recasts when they'd all eventually die from the area attack. Meanwhile t...

I did some soloing in Qufim too. I went after the Wights there with Ifrit. Ifrit just floors skeletons (fire punching attacks 8) ). Ifrit was also a good choice against bombs in Gugen Mines. He'd even live through self destruct with barely a scratch ;) A few levels ago, I went after tough and vt gob...

Well, at least you can get invites. As a summoner, I'm stopped dead at 43. I never get invites even if I'm the only healer seeking. I think the problem is people don't think of summoners when they are looking for a healer :P The only time I've been able to get an invite on summoner these days is whe...

Another insidious trick, that I've had done on me in Beadeaux, is to use strong cure spells from a hard to reach location on someone hurt while they're fighting an NM (e.g. someone fighting in the lower area of Beadeaux, and the curer stands on the upper level). The monster would then run after the ...

I was recently the vicitm of a party full of the powerleveled... at level 61, no less. This was our party make-up: nin/war, sam/war, war/nin, drk/thf, blm/whm, and me rdm/whm We tried to find a white mage, or at least a bard, but none could be found. So, I was main healer. We fought crawlers in the ...

Do I think SE handled it well? No.. They may have just taken away too much too fast instead of taking it away over a set timeframe. Same things taken away, just the change could have been more gradual. I think doing it all at once was the only way to handle this. Taking one thing away a month, for ...

A Lesson in Ninjutsu
I'm not one to blow my own horn, but I thought it was funny how this entire forum of tarutaru black mages couldn't figure out how one of their own got over 1500 damage on a Freeze magic burst. It just goes to show it takes a mithra to teach a taru black mage how their job works 8) It's the real reas...

I am by no means a master of BCNMs, but I've done my fair share :) To gain access to a BCNM fight, you need to exchange Beastman's Seals to a vendor in Port Jeuno. Usually, the number of seals to buy the orb corresponds to the level cap of the BCNM... so for a BCNM20, you need to buy an orb for 20 s...

Hmmmm.... a 30something RNG I know saw little change. Any reports from other RNG? Makes a mental note to go out and level Archery to check it out. Rangers did NOT get gimped. The rules for Ranged weapons changed for EVERYONE. Even us Red Mages. Accuracy and damage now are distance related. Sounds l...

I want to say I'm sorry for the rangers... ... But I'm not :( In all my time of playing Final Fantasy, Rangers dominated damage dealing. People who took the time to enjoy the other damage dealing jobs were relegated to long waits for parties... hour after hour... in the vague hope that maybe there w...

I'm not saying there aren't nice people out there who like to give of themselves. Maybe it's because the Windower could secretly install things to spy on you. Or maybe the Windower can let strangers access your computer, allowing them engage in illegal activity through it on the Internet, and make it look like you're to blame. How would you be able to tell? http://virusscan.jott...

Well guess Im a cheater, I <3 my windower :) Just remember, there's a price for everything. If someone gives away free software for you to use, at the very least, they have to pay the cost of letting you download that software. What's their incentive to give you free software if it costs them money...
