That time of year is upon us. What are your plans and/or costumes?

This friday my job is having a halloween party. Wearing my Starship Troopers costume. Then _on_ halloween, I'm taking my baby cousin trick or treating as an ewok, and me in my biker scout armor, and if you so much as ask me how We got our butts handed to us at Endor, I will so throw pumpkins at you :o

:D ohhh that sounds so totally cute!!

I will be attending the Henri David Ball on Halloween.
I'm working on a making a dress... I'm trying to emulate Elphaba's dress from Act II (from the musical Wicked).
The top is almost done... the bottom is another story.
I have pics of my progress that I can post if kitties want to see :)

Karou, after several decades of making costumes for Halloween parties and a few more just going to the costume closet and seeing what I am not bored with, I gave up. I do admit having thought about going as a burnt out seamstress.

Tianshii, yes, do post pics. Just because I am burnt out about my costuming doesn't mean I don't enjoy the work of others. And you do nice work.

I also have a new plan in the works, The day before Halloween my Garden Railroad Club has chosen one of our club member's layouts for a halloween party. I've decorated my 2 locomotives with cobwebs and some rolling stock for my part of the party, photos if someone at my club actually remembers the cameras. We keep forgetting them because we're so distracted by people going "Ooooo Big trains? This is so neat tell us more!"

@ Tianshii: Btw, my baby cousin is an Imperial Ewok :3 ever since she started learning to talk it's been "white armor girl" and "Blast webel scum" The latter she overheard as I was watching star wars EP IV :o Go Figure.

*^_^* you kitties make me blush with your complements

lol @ your baby cousin "Blast webel scum"

that reminds me of a story a co-worker told me.
her baby cousin poked his mom in the bewb by accident and exclaimed:
I'm sorry I poked you in your lady mountains!

So as I mentioned... Elphaba's dress from act 2... I AM IN OVER MY HEAD!!! :?

The original cost 20k to make by a real costume designer...
My budget is $300. So to make up for the cost, I cut up dresses that I don't wear anymore and one of my co-workers brought in a dress for me to hack up also ^^

Image
^ I decided to get a corset-ish top since I don't know how to make one from scratch.
I went to Victoria's Secret and asked the sales girl if they had a black corset-ish top made of netting & lace. They had ONE and it's in this pic next to some fabric.

Image
^ This is of some sketches I did and a top I was about to cut up.

Image
^ Lining for the skirt.

Image
^ SEVEN YARDS of netting that I have to sew strips of fabric to in order to create the "skirt" portion of the dress.

Image
^ I have to essentially do "patchwork" to the top with velvet-type material, so here's the beginning...

Image
^ Phase 2, with another top next to it that I cut up...

Image
^ Phase 3...I added a ZIPPER :D

Image
^ Woot! Zipper works! I actually have the top on in this pic. :)

Image
^ Next up: the HAT

Image
^ Fabric I chose for the hat. :)

Image
^ Started the brim here. I don't have a shot of the finished piece yet lol.

Too busy sewing, no time to take more pics lately.

I'll add some in a few days and of course, there will be a post once it is all done and on :D

Folkwear has some neat corset patterns, many eras, but they take specialized hardware. Most pattern books have pseudo corsets, which I hope are easier to sew.

Great start, link to the original please?

I agree with what is said above and am eager to see the end result.
I remember your Rydia costume from last year being a great success, so I trust this to be as well.

As for me, us silly Dutch do not celebrate halloween except for a hidiously expensive drinkfest at a local bar or disco here and there.

The original dress can be seen here:
http://www.wickedthemusical.com/#PhotoGallery

Its the long one that looks like its all black... It actually isn't.
When you get to see it up close, it's shades of black, green, red and gold/yellow velvet, silk and lace. :?

Now you're only making me more anxious to see the end result!
You'd better post it!

Otherwise my inbox has some space left.

Just some pictures of my airsoft gear I do plan to wear on halloween. Reason is my Biker scout armor had a severe strap snap that holds my chest armor front and rear tank armor on and the person who makes the repair strap is on vacation this week and cannot ship it out. but that's okay, my lil cuz thinks I look like GI Joe xD

Also I'd like to thank my hubby for modeling my GPS Wrist pouch while I photographed it. And as I told him "Okay there, now get your own!"

EDIT: Oh ya, here is my hubby's Experimental Digital Navy Camo Uniform. His cousin is Nuclear Technician on an aircraft carrier, and during the Experimental Test, she ended up testing the standard tri-color uniform over the digital. She sent the digital one to my hubby and he wears it as his airsoft camo (unless it's a tournament match, in which case he dons his Marine corps MARPAT).

I'm the short bikerscout next to the rebel, my hubby's in the stormtrooper armor in the back. Unofficial Illinois Garrison. Brookfield, IL before our fun at the zoo. I do not do the femm trooper stuff. My chest/back armor is molded to my curves which doesn't really show well in a picture. And Yes I always wear my helmet. Well mostly. My chest armor strap was mailed overnight to me from my supplier who got my email before he left for vacation and I was able to fix my strap.

We Are 501st. We Are Vader's Fist. We Are The Empire. We Are The Unstoppable. Loyal Until Death. We Serve Lord Vader's Will. To Die In Battle, The Honorable Thing. But Above All.... We Are Illinois.
