Screen Capture Utilities

If you want to not use the built-in screen capture function of FFXI you'll have to use a third-party utility. The most popular one is
Fraps, but I'm a big fan of Clipper myself.
Clipper can be hard to track down, so I put the file up for download at my site. Just click on the link below.

Enjoy!

I can also provide a good version of Fraps if anyone needs it. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Never had problems with screen caps before. Hmm ...
Found
Clipper's website. With Clipper you just hit the Print Screen button and it captures the screen and dumps the file to a location you specify. It works by taking whatever Print Screen captures to the clipboard and saving it to a file immediately.
I've never tried the animated GIF function, but I know Clipper doesn't make movies like AVI or MPG files. So I guess if you want to do actual movies you'd want to use Fraps, but you'll be limited to 30 seconds. You have to register (aka. purchase) the thing to remove the limit, but I think $30 is too much. If it were $20 or $15 maybe ... but not $30.
You can
download Fraps from their website to get the latest version available.

Snagit works, but you have to change the 'take picture' macro. it's Ctrl+P...

I don't think any screen capture utility is worth the $40 they're charging for the licensed version though.

That would require a registered version ... or a pirated version. We don't sanction software pirating, so either buy a copy or go elsewhere.
