From what I heard, (Myst or another PC player might be able to confirm) they fixed the Windows key crashout, but not alt+tab.

Well, now you can have it all if you use this fix

And far as I know, this fix isn't breaking any licence agreements for FFXI...otherwise Square would have to sue Bill Gates...that would be a ugly thing!

From what I saw, it does them all (read the webpage and see)

But the ONLY fixed by Squaresoft "I hate this key/keys that crashes my game" was the Windows key.

Nice one, but the combo that I usualy kick myself for accidently hitting is Alt - Esc.....

note, unlike all of you. i like alt-tab, provides a nice way to get out of the game fasti fi your in a hurry. and since i use a controler and not a keyboard. i never seem to have your alt-tab problem^^

Alt-tab doesn't help you "get out" any faster. Your character is still around for 30 seconds, even if you're no longer controlling it. ^.~

If you need to logout that quickly, you can always press reset. Has just as much effect.

Bah, alt-tab is the fastest logout the game has, that and hammering a shift key five times.

Just don't do it while aggro'd.

yes it does, i personally use the windower for my ffxi, i couldnt live w/o it
(ok i could but it makes my life ALOT easier) i will give you one warning though, using the ffxi windower enables the windows key again, however it doesnt kick you out of game (yay) but does have an intresting side effect. hitting windows + another key ingame (havent really tested which keys it works with) LOCKS the windows key on, and currently i know no way of turning it off, therefor any and all text you type will open up windows shortcuts that only special people know, and the only way to fix the problem is to restart the computer....

besides this little problem, the windower works great, i also cant wait for the new version, which will solve alot of the problems in the current version. anyways, if your like me and have ffxi for pc, play it on pc, have only one computer, and that computer only has one monitor, then the windower is a very very useful tool, if you are classified as not having this situation, you may dibate on its usefullness. but its still very useful!

I can't get it to work.

I followed the instructions on the download page, but it still loads in full screen mode when I use launch.bat. Anyone know how to fix that?

Farthest I get is right before the game goes into fullscreen, then I get an error telling me pol has to close.

In response to Josiejo, open up the lauch.bat in notepad and do a quick find for the letters "pol" wheen you find that, you just change it to wherever you pol.exe is located. Yep this happened to me alot since I have three different hard drives. By the way, is there any way to fix that whole mouse missalignment thing?

Er... I said I followed the directions.

I've already done that... still getting full screen mode. If I hadn't done that, then pol wouldn't launch at all. *shrug*

Just to those who don't already know, using a window minimizer can get you banned if the GMs discover you are using one. So make sure you use it at your own risk.

Before you get all huffity at me I am neither saying it is "right" or "wrong" to use a window minimizer, I'm just reporting the risks of using one.

You just hit Alt+Tab, and it should go into a windowed mode.
