Haha, what a dolt. Seriously that strap is not that easy to break, you have to be playing WAY to hard to do so.

 I read a few of the others, too. That's funny stuff, but at least Nintendo replaced the broken string for that one guy^^
I wonder if it also had something to do with him/her being a subscriber of the mag :?:

What I would like to see is the official reply from Nintendo to the people who ended up with broken TVs or windows, much less the lawsuits.

I just know someone's going to try and sue Nintendo for a broken HDTV from the faulty strap.

There goes my chance to be allowed to connect my Wii to my dad's 32" Plasma HDTV.

Only in America, and they'd probably win

Heh just read over a lot of them and seems like the straps break a lot... or are people breaking the straps afterwards?

*shrug* I really fail to see the problem with the straps. Mine seems just fine, but then I am not swinging my wiimote all over like a maniac either.

Honestly owning one I am led more to believe that it is less that the strap is "defective" and more that the owners are idiots.

Don't underestimate the stupidity and willingness-to-sue of the average dumbass american. We're the people who sue McDonalds after we dump their coffee in our laps. One lady even sued a microwave company because their microwave killed her dog. (She left out the fact she was trying to dry poor Fluffy in the process.)

America is truly the inheritor of the Athenian tradition.

In Arastiphones' (spelled wrong I am sure) play, "The Clouds" we find the first iteration of the map joke. An actor, the first banana in vaudeville terms, is trying to explain the very concept of a map to the second banana who just doesn't get it.

FB "We are here." points at a spot on the map.

SB then stands on the map. "Here?"

This goes on for quite a while.

Finally SB gets the concept that the map is supposed to be a pictorial representation of Athens. "This can't be Athens," he declares "there isn't a single law court in session."

Reminds me of a joke I read in a book I just bought. (Neil Gaiman's "American Gods")

"Hey, how can we tell the CIA wasn't really behind JFK's assassination?"
"I don't know, how -can- we tell?"
"Well, he's dead, isn't he?"

Back in the '60s, the government of Andorra had an annual defense budget of $4.90 US. This was for the blanks their ceremonial guard fired off on holidays. I must presume that a state funeral could double this, and that the guards were volunteers.

You just have to like a government like that.

I like the kind of government that legalizes porn and gives away beer, pizza, and chicken wings.

 what a dumbass, wondered when she realised her dog was dead? Was it the screaming? Or was it when the dog's eyeballs blew up?

Yeah you guys are the reason McD's coffee has "warning hot" written on it and packets of nuts have "may contain nuts" written on them

Sadly your stupidity and willingness to sue is spreading over here. A while back a super market used to give homeless their out-of-date food and one day one of them got sick from it, sued them and won. So now this super market doesn't give leftovers to the homeless, can blame that one greedy bastard for that

People are greedy the world over. Americans just make internatlional headlines more often.

I love the bit David Letterman did when those cups came out. He had a cup that read: "Hey genius, this crap is hot!"

I love the warning on hairdryers about not using them in the shower or tub. I wanna meet the person who was responsible for that.

On the sunshade I put on my windshield when I park there is written the warning "Do not drive with sunshade in place".

Some idiot crashed his brand new RV. Seems he engaged the cruse control and went to the bedroom for a nap. He sued. As I never heard about the case again, I presume he lost.

As to the infamous McDonald's coffee case, read a little deeper into that one. It seems they had scalded dozens of people in the two years before that incident. Admonished by the courts for those scaldings, they had little defense when sued.

"Do not attemp to control your heart with the Wiimote."

"Do not remove the four leaf clover from your Wii. It is Nintendo's secret to motion sensing."

What someone said underneith, "And here I was using my Wii as an ash tray. I guess I'll just have to get a PS3 for an ash tray now."

Well that'll be the only thing the PS3 will be good for! Badum chish!
