My first {Besieged}!

Post by ScarlettPheonix »

Until tonight I hadn't been able to be in Al Zahbi or online during a beseiged event. They always seemed to occur when I had other plans (either irl or in game). Well, tonight Remora was treated to three attacks and I managed to be there for all of them. Lucky me

The Undead Swarm and Troll Mercenaries attacked pretty much together; as soon as we beat off the Undead we were launched straight back into the fray against the Trolls. About an hour or so after the first and second wave the Mamool Ja decided that they didn't want to be left out and attacked as well.

I wasn't sure what to expect from Beseiged besides lots of dying... Good thing I set my hp in Whitegate because I think my total KO count was 5x tonight. Four of them happened during the Undead wave and one to a Mamool Ja BLM that would not stay silenced. I'm so happy that you don't lose EXP during the event, or I'd be 74 again :P

I was in a party for all 3 waves but with all the dying going we were all over the map and I ended up just helping out where I could. The mobs are free claim (don't know how else to describe it, lol) and anyone can attack them. Just like during the summer event when we'd all gang up to kill Toro.

Very Very fun. out of all the new content that I've accessed so far I have to say that Beseiged is definetly my favorite^^

Here are some of the pics I took:

Image

At the gate waiting for the Undead and Trolls to arrive

Image

Group of us hacking away at at troll. You can just barely see me, my favorite Elvaan is standing in the way

Image

Beseiged aftermath: 5 prisoners total, including the AH manager and most importantly the Warp Taru!

Image

So, about 30 of us launch a rescue mission to the Arrapago Reef where most of the prisoners were taken (Our battle plan: Kill anything that moves and get our Taru back) This shot is just after the ferry docked in Nashmau. All of the Mithra ended up on the pier at the same time and since we were all heading out to save our warp taru....Kitties to the Rescue!!!

The 3rd wave (Mamool Ja attack) happened just after we returned from Arrapago Reef. I logged for the night about an hour after the final battle and at that time the only prisoner who'd been rescued was the Warp Taru.

We at least have our priorities straight on Remora, no beastmen had better mess with our Warp Taru!!

 not the warp taru!

I went to the very first one on Bahamut with about half the population of the server. Saw a mob spawn then bam it died in an instant so it kinda sucked

Do you "claim" mobs or can anyone attack them?

Anyone can attack them which is a very good thing. They have a ton of def and hp so it takes a lot of whacking at them to make them die.

Beseiged on Remora has gotten to the point where there's a pretty even mix of monsters: PCs so everyone at least has a chance to hit at something. Or wiff at them, the beastmen have pretty high eva and most didn't bother to eat any sushi since there is a pretty good chance of dying

To add to the fun, the beastmen can 2hr and the Lamia just loooovvveeddd to spam thier move that removes all your equips. I ended up nekkid a few times and half dead before realizing what had happened.

The lag during the event was horrible.....worse then Lower Jeuno on a bad day  Very fun over all, I give it a 9.5 out of 10 :D

Nice!! ROFL "Not the Warp Taru" & "Kitties to the Rescue" were my fave 2 shots.
I keep trying to catch a Beseiged, but no luck so far. From what I hear it's over in thirty seconds. One day, one day.

At least for the Beseiged events I was there for it wasn't really that short, the mobs were buffed up a bit during a patch a few weeks ago and it shows. The fights might seem quick because you're so busy with everything but they really aren't

Its no longer "have 200 blms standing at the gates to blast everything to hell" its more "watch 200 blms get slaughtered while the beastmen run through town and take the warp taru hostage"

The undead swarm took some fighting to get them to retreat. We were 2/5 generals when they finally left. The trolls are slightly less hard with more annoying mobs to kill (bombs and scorpions) and the Mamool Ja were the easiest for us.

Between the Undead and Troll attack waves, I think it took us about 20-30 mins total. I know I converted 2x during the Troll Mercenaries wave. Once right at the beginning and then about midway through the fighting when I took a Cluster bomb self-destruct to the face. (Thank the gods for SS and Barfire)

The Mamool Ja attack was shorter, maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Last night there was a besieged event I ended up missing, but from the time the beseiged map said they were attacking to when they were retreating it was about the same, 7-10 mins.

Caitsith has yet to have a single prisoner taken. :D

I've done Beseiged 3 times now, a lvl 30 RDM can't really help, so I hid behind all the NPCs and attakced what they attacked. After lvling PUP for 5 days straight, I couldn't leave my MH without Koumei (my automation). So I had a little extra help.

I assume it's alot more fun for you high lvls.

Hehe its definetly a sight to see, not very often you see high levels getting pounded into ground meat where lower levels can watch.

Even at level 30 you can help out. My very good friend Lilbeast (he's the taru I'm standing in front of in the top pic) is currently lvling whm and he took it into a recent Besieged at level 41. He died (lots) but he had a great time running around spamming dia, banish and cures. He said afterwards that his Enfeebling skill went up ten levels during the event.

I think I know who took the Warp Taru during my first Besieged

Continuing with my Beseiged Obsession: had 3 back to back ones tonight. Undead>>Mamool Ja>>Trolls. All level 5, took close to an hour to clear all the events. No prisoners this time thank goodness. After an hour of constant hacking at mobs that just would not stand still and the lag that having 200+ PCs in the same zone creates I was not about to go on a rescue mission.

:o Did they take the general as a hostage or just kill him??

If he's a prisoner, hope he's back by the time your next besieged rolls around...would suck to be 1/5 on the Generals before the event even started.

Don't know. Saw the Galka General in combat, then when it was all over, the Mamool Jah had a prisoner.

The AH manager was taken about 2 RL hours before. No Al Zhbhi AH while he is gone.

What exactly do the Generals do for the City's defense anyway?

The generals are just super awesome NPC's. I fought through 3 consecutive lvl 5 waves, the highest, as a 68Drg/Blm. I was able to solo those mobs untill we got to the Undead. The life draining AoE spam's wiped out my wyvern, then me soon after. During the first 2 waves, I saw all of our Generals get stomped. I'm not sure if we lost anyone else, but I know we gaurded the Warp Taru and the AH Manager more then the Astral Condesence.
In the end, I'm just talking out of my ass. So take it all with a grain of salt.
