PPL say that a RDM is useless until lvl 40. Well id like to tell you something. you are WRONG! with a capitol W.

1. When the players are weak and the mob is tough. who do you need to enfeeble and buff? RDM!

2. Mob still kicking your butt? Who can use Gravity so everyone could easily escape the mobs horrific rape range? RDM!

3. Who can raise the WHM if he dies? RDM!

4. Who gets the coolest of pimp hats? RDM! (meh i just felt like adding that)

5. When all the mages are out of MP and the tanks are dead and the Mob has JUST A LITTLE BIT of health. Who can Melee to save the day? RDM!

I'd say putting merits on jumps is a waste. Unless they allow more you can't really do much to them, can't get High Jump down to 1min if put all JA merits on it

Anyways what I like about:
NIN - ninjutsu! and totally flipping out and being totally sweet!
RDM - Chainspell nuking and Convert is awesome.
DRG - Jumping is fun! And <3 my cuddly wyvern
Plus all the AF looks sweet

Summoner-
I have an assortment of friends to choose from to aid me in battle. From neon and cute to the nekked bird girl Even Diabolos! Each level that brings forth new blood pact options is exciting and fun.
Oftentimes, summoners walk alone. Thing is, you're never really alone with all the Avatars and Spirit pacts. There is so much a Sumoner can do... I think our abilities are sometimes left uptapped in leu of the generic EW and AA.
I love it because I can be so many things. Damage dealer. Party protector/enhancer. With whm sub, raiser of the dead while my avatar fights on! Soloing~ And say your sneak enchantment drops while you're too close to an aggressive crab in the tunnel... Carbuncle has my back while I {Run away!}

Uh not really relevant especially at higher levels. Chainspell escape is better ;p

Oh yah. Well as a Thief main, i'd say one of the better things is all the shinies I find! You want some ancient treasure found? Ask that their thief over there! They can find it for you! (if mithra thief, approach with caution, bring catnip).
Soloing is pretty fun as a thief too! Bolts are my friends <3
