In my mispent youth I studied drama. I have acted profesionally.
I honestly believe that the best place for drama is on stage or screen.

I like novels myself. But then again, I cant get to a theater often.
Maybe i should spend the afternoon away from FFXI and watch Casablanca again...

Video games are a good source of drama too, like some of the final fantasy games among others like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
As for my favorite musical/play, I would go with the "Pirates of Penzance"(sp) 'I am the very model of a modern major general' anyone?

The internet is the best place for drama. I don't know what all you people are talking about.

I like the FF games. Had spots in several of them that actually made me cry...that's hard to do at times.

If a book/play/film/video game can make me cry I consider that good.
Two cases in particular:
The movie "Philadelphia" where Tom Hanks plays the lawyer with AIDS and Denzel Washington helps his in his suit against the firm that fired him. I blubber like a baby through that whole movie and at the end I am a mess.
Then there's "Saving Private Ryan" where at the end the old man turns to his wife with tears in his eyes and says "Tell me I'm a good man; tell me I lead a good life." Man, even just typing that I'm getting all misty-eyed.

Favorite play?? Favorite musical?? But there are so many!!!
Film musical has got to be West Side Story. Still.
Play... Waiting for Godot made the strongest impression on me, but favorite? That's hard.
Stage musical.... Well there was a production of Leave it to Jane at the Circle in the Square Theater, on Sheridan Square in New York in 1963. I was in the chorus. It is an offical Off Broadway venue and as close to the Great White Way as I ever got. So that one is my favorite.

As a boy of 19, nearly 20, I can say only one movie has ever made me cry. "
Taps". Where the little boy gets shot near the end, trying to run to the gate to his mother.
One that ran a close second was "
Shadowlands". I haven't seen the end, only up to the middle. But in the middle, C.S. Lewis's wife contracts some kind of bone cancer, and my mother died very suddenly of cancer about a year and a half ago. So....yeah.... That's my drama.

You guys got me thinking about games/movies and so forth that have left tear trails down my cheeks~
THIS game (ffxi) made me cry when I did the final CS for CoP. Not just because of what played before my eyes, but because it recalled to memory every single harship, triumph, obstical and sadness I encountered going through the CoP missions. There were many--
many--
many.
Movie that made me cry: Hero (w/ Jet Li)
Book: Starman, by Sara Douglass and
{/blush
} the latest Harry Potter

Only movie that's moved me to tears is Phenomenon (had to look up the spelling heh) at the end when he dies
Also that episode of Pokémon when Ash and Pikachu almost part ways, choked me up a bit
Generally I prefer comedy to drama

Did anyone else notice that Nightmare before Christmas is an Operetta? (I am positive I mispelled that.) Briliant too.
