It has been confermed the second new class is Corsair, it is a gambler acualy but they wanted to change the name because gambler is not really a positive name in America. it has gamble abilities and uses a gun that suports the party, sounds interesting and I am glad it is gambler, they are staying with the good classic FF jobs (gambler was in FFVI)

Interesting, now please validate. I checked with the ToAU site and I don't see it there.

But it looks enough like a pirate to keep pirate fans happy.

Probably combines atributes of both jobs, not that FF has had a pirate before.

[edit] Pirate, Gun Mage, Gambler all in one. :D And of course we will look the best doing it.

/wonders how parrots taste :D

This job looks like fun :D

It looks like red mages will have some more competition eventually for parties since this is described as a support class. Hmmmm.....wonder how well it'll work with rdm subbed.......

Blue Mage had me excited for the expansion, but now I'm impatient too!

Hurry up SE, we want our expansion!!!!!

Jedi: I'll see your "YARR" and raise you a "Yo HO HO!" :P

One thing I'm worried about now though is how the Corsair's shots will work. If they're consumables, I have a feeling this will be another very expensive job.

If the consumables are purchaced from NPCs I'm all for it. It will help remove gil from the econ.

ToAU updated to add Corsair, here is their official info.

"Descendants of the dauntless pirates that once scourged the seas of the Near East, corsairs rely on the “Hexagun,” a multi-barreled revolver, and elaborate luck-based abilities to alter the stakes of battle."

http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/ahturh ... rsair.html

And in other news, that's one fruity ass Elvaan.

Sweet! I was hoping they would make a Pirate-looking job!! Hee hee.

^^ This.. is sweet.

I quit Xi when I first began, back on of course though. :D

But I remember saying one thing to a really good friend of mine when he was telling me about the new expansion pack and a short possibility of a Pirate class coming out. And being the psycho I am, >.>; This is what I said:

"OMG. ooomg, PIRATE. {Where?!}. If theres a Pirate class i'll play this game like hell!"

Aha, spasm moment. But anyways. ^^ Corsair sounds like an awesome job. More or less id say its combining a Gambler, GunMage, and Pirate.

And for those of you who keep saying "It's a Gambler! It's just called a Corsair because over oversea- blahblahblah.."

A corsair is a pirate. Commonly seen in olden days off the cost of Barbary. Granted it does look like its main use is to be a gambler/support. We dont neccesarily know, do we? I think it's too early to judge the class, but hell I dont care if theres a thousand 'xxCaptainJackSparrowxx' names running around, ^.^ Im gonna be one of those idiots who play this job as SOON as it comes out.

Over and out.

Nope. That is a privateer. Privateers are licensed with a letter of Marque and Reprisal. In the heyday of piracy in the Caribian the Spanish carefuly noted the legal difference between pirates and privateers. Pirates they simply hung. A privateer would have his Letter of Marque nailed to his chest before being hung.

Durring our Revolutionary war, the Contenental Congress had Leters of Marque printed up on a fill in the blank space type of form. We had well over a thousand of these naval axuallires in our service. They were the ONLY units to carry the war to the pockets of the British merchantile class, the prime benificaries of the colonial system.

True, but Corsair is associated primarily with the Barbary States. The rest of the world certianly didn't consider them "good pirates" at all and either fought back or paid a tribute to pass through their "waters" unmolested.

Of course, America eventually got tired paying tribute, rebelled ~we're awfully good at that~ and by 1815 didn't pay any tribute to the Barbary States and ships sailing under American flags were left (mostly) unmolested.

more info about the Barbary States can be found here: http://www.infoplease.com/ce6/history/A0806137.html

Privateering under Letters of Marque was pretty common through out the Rennaissance and early colonial periods in the New World. Queen Elizabeth I authorized many privateers to have fun with the Spanish, Dutch and Portugese merchant ships carrying riches from South America and the Far East for example lol.

So they were "good" from England's point of view, but "bad" from everyone elses. Of course, England wasn't the only one making sailing an exciting adventure. Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and even the US during the Revolution did this too.

Me too... i'm realy looking forward to this. I can just imagine the GLUT of rank 10 folks going back to level 10 and trying to figure out how to party as these new jobs.

Well i think that they are gonna look at the corsair and think its nothing more than a high seas ranger and be heavy on ranger items for them.

With blue mage.. there might be some aspect to it that makes it almost like a soloable mage job or at least something that would be good with a whm or blm subjob.

MMm.....Corsair

This is very exciting! I can't wait to try it out since I'm currently trying multiple jobs to find a main to go to 75 for the first time (MNK is high on that list), this will be super-cool beans! Now, I haven't read the article, because I'm at school, but I will-- make's you wonder. Lots of new items for Corsair will have to be added, if they rely on that specific type of gun, which is really cool. :3 I'm getting 2 copies as soon as it's out!

I don't think corsair will be like ranger, I think its going to be more of an enfeebler type job.

Anyone ever see FF: Unlimited?

corsair hexagun with bullets containing abilities reminds me of Kaze a lot. My room mate thought the same.

I am sorry...but you all seem to forget this is a Gambler calss...even if they are related to pirate by the stupid stoy they have given -.- they are still Gamblers, yes the word Corsair means many things related to pirates, but if you remember they only changed the name because they did not wan to use the name Gambler, because of its "negative" role in US -.- and honestly if you are going to come back to the game just because you can now be a "pirate" -.- .....wow that silly Everyone is getting all moist over this "Pirate" class and relly everyone needs to chill, I am excited too that new jobs are being released, I was excited about Bluemage and about Corsair, and I wil lalso be excited abou tthe third job they tell us about, but really.... chill the hell out, you wont beable to have your own ships, you wont have a crew, you wont have peglegs or hooks, and you will not be saying argg and matty ( atleast not in any of my PTs)
