Advanced Guide to Gardening

When most start off gardening it’s usually just for sh*ts-n-giggles. You’ve got all these seeds and some extra gil, so why not? But the first time that a beginner gets a bumper crop of 20+ fire crystals they go from the sh*ts-n-giggles stage to the “Oh my god, I can make some serious money!” stage.

Your thoughts become consumed with figuring out just what exactly you did to get such a massive yield and then repeating that formula again and again.

But therein lies the rub. See, gardening is like crafting in that you take a set of items, put them all together and get a final product. But even if you use the same pot, the same seed and the same crystal, your results can, and often do, change.

It’s All About Relationships

And I’m not talking about the “Will you be mine” kind of relationships either.

Most of you have seen this at some point or other:

*******=>*Fire*=>*****
****/*************\***
Water****Light****Ice**
***|*******|*******|**
Lightning*Dark***Wind**
****\*************/***
******<=*Earth*<=*****

(gotta love ASCII art!)

From this (rather bare bones) diagram, it’s quite easy to see that Fire is strong versus Ice and weak versus Water. These strong and weak relationships are an underlining principle throughout Vana’diel, including gardening.

The elements saturate every aspect, from the seeds, to the flowerpots, to the proper times for planting, feeding and harvesting.

The Elements of the Flowerpots
Earthen Flowerpot = Earth
Brass Flowerpot = Fire
Ceramic Flowerpot = Water
Porcelain Flowerpot = Wind

The Elements of the Seeds
Vegetable seeds = Earth
Grain seeds = Fire
Fruit seeds = Water
Herb seeds = Wind

The Days of the Week
Firesday
Earthsday
Watersday
Windsday
Icesday
Lightningsday
Lightsday
Darksday

The Phases of the Moon
New Moon
Waxing Crescent Moon
Quarter Moon
Waxing Gibbous Moon
Full Moon
Waning Gibbous Moon
Last Quarter Moon
Waning Crescent Moon

To determine which day of the week it is and what phase the moon is currently in, make use of the ’/clock’ function. You’ll get your information right there. If you’re not in-game or maybe you just want to get a heads-up on when the Full Moon will occur, head on over to Virtual Vana'diel Timer (it has plenty of other information as well).

Now, when to plant, what to plant, when to feed, etc. is determined by what you want to harvest. There’s a list of commonly known harvests for most of the seed-crystal-pot combinations at the end of this guide. If you see something on there that you like, make note of the seed type, flowerpot type and feed crystal used.

Day To Plant
If you’re going for items (and not Little Worms or Rock Salt), there are two days which are ideal.
1) When the element of the seed and the day are the same.
2) When the element of the seed is strong versus the element of the day.
If crystals are your game, then there are three choices.
(unless you want Light or Dark, then just go to 3)
1) Lightsday
2) Darksday
3) (now this one is tricky) First, you have to know what crystal you are going to feed the plant. Now, locate that element on the elemental relationship wheel. Whatever element your feed crystal is weak versus, is the same element of the day to plant.
Example: I want fire crystals (they’re so useful!) and, according to the elemental relationship wheel, Fire is weak versus Water. So, I would want to plant the seed on Watersday.

Feed the Plant Day
For those desiring items (again, not Rock Salt or Little Worms), you should feed the plant on one of two days
1) The day with the same element as the crystal.
2) The day whose element is weak versus the element of the crystal.
Example: (Fire Crystals aren’t items, but here’s an example anyways) If I want to get Fire Crystals I would feed the seed with a Water Crystal. So, I would want to feed the seed on either Watersday or Firesday.

Harvesting Day
Very simple, the closer to the full moon that you harvest, the larger the yield of your harvest.

Now, for a cautionary note:
Unless you want to harvest rock salt, you should not harvest on the day when the element of the seed and the feed crystal is strong versus the element of the day.
Example: So, lets say I’m using Fruit Seeds to get my Fire Crystals. Fruit Seeds = Water, I used a Water Crystal for feed, so if I were to harvest on Firesday, I’m liable to end up with a hand full of Rock Salt. Not what I wanted.

Some further tips:
- Some believe that the number of times you check the plant influences the harvest. Supposedly, not checking the plant at all gives more crystals and checking it frequently helps with getting a better harvest (i.e. no Little Worms or Rock Salt)

- It is thought that the flowerpots share an affinity for certain regions.
Earthen Flowerpot = Sarutabaruta = Earth Crystal, Tarutaru rice, Kukuru beans, Pototo, Saruta Cotton
Brass Flowerpot = Gustaberg = Fire Crystal, Black Pepper, La Theine Cabbage
Ceramic Flowerpot = Ronfaure = Water Crystal, Millioncorn, Sunflower seeds
Porcelain Flowerpot = Jeuno = Wind Crystal, Blue Peas
What does this affinity mean for you? Crops associated with a region will have higher yields if they’re seeded in the appropriate flowerpot.

- If your feed crystals’ element is the same as the element of the seed, you can sometimes get a harvest that can’t be acquired any other way.

- A note on speed of maturing: if the feed crystal is weak versus the seed you’ll have quick growth. And if the feed crystal is strong versus the seed, growth will be slower. Slow growth isn’t always a bad thing, as there can be some crops that can’t be had any other way.

- Little Worms and Rock Salt are typically the result of using a feed crystal that is either the same element as the seed or a feed crystal that is strong versus the seed.

- If you want crystals you should not use a feed crystal that is strong versus the seed. So, don’t feed a Grain Seed with a Water Crystal, or an Herb Seed with an Ice Crystal, etc

- Again, with crystals, if you use a feed crystal that is the same element as the seed, you will get a larger crop of crystals. This only works for four crystals: Ice, Earth, Lightning and Fire. Grain Seed + Fire Crystal = Ice Crystal, Fruit Seed + Water Crystal = Fire Crystal, etc.

- Whenever you check on your plants your moogle will make a comment. Some believe that the harvests vary depending on the comment. They will check the plant until they get the comment they want to hear and then harvest.

Here is the example of a Fire Crystal crop, condensed:
The flowerpot is the Brass Flowerpot.
The seed is the Fruit Seed.
The crystal used is Water Crystal.
Plant the Fruit Seed on either Lightsday, Darksday or Watersday.
Feed the Water Crystal when the plant needs it.
You can do this again, seeing as how the seed is a Fruit Seed. You do not have to.
Harvest should be during the Full Moon, on any day except Firesday.

And here’s the promised chart. It is far from definitive. After each crop is what some have yielded.
The Fruit Seed combinations are quite bare, there are so very many of them. Hopefully we can fill this in.

Excellent starting gardening guide, though you leave out some things on more advanced gardening.

Gardening at basic levels with basic seeds that show harvests in a few days is just the beginning. Main profit from these types of plants are usually stacks of fire crystals or light crystals.

Later, you'll likely want to advance to the big seeds. Tree Cuttings, Tree Saplings, and Cactus Stems.

Tree Cuttings are dropped by Gobbue Farmers, sell for approx. 3k in the AH, and take about two weeks RT to grow.

Tree Saplings are grown from Tree Cuttings + No Crystal + No Crystal, sell for about 15k in the AH, and take about three weeks RT to provide a harvest.

Cactus Stems I know very little about, and have never harvested them, I hear they take about 2.5 RT weeks to grow, and sell for 10k ish in the AH.

Some of the recipes I have managed:

Tree Cuttings:
Brass Pot: Dark Crystal, Dark Crystal, Lightsday. = Darksteel Nuggets

Earthern Pot:Gold Beastcoins: Dark Crystal + No Crystal, Darksday = Gold Beastcoins

Brass Pot: Light Crystal + Light Crystal, Firesday = Platinum Nuggets.

Cactus Stems: (I only know one recipe)

Brass Pot: Ice Crystal + Ice Crystal, Lightningday = Gold Ore

Tree Saplings:

Porcelain: Light Crystal + Light Crystal, Lightsday = Gold Leaves

Pot of the element your trying for: Element Crystal + Element Crystal, opposite day = Elemental Ore.

Earthern Pot: Wind Crystal + Wind Crystal, Earthsday/Firesday = Massive yield of Windurstian Tea Leaves (Like 50-60)

I have successfully gardened up an elemental ore.

25 days of work boiled down into three heart attack seconds last night. I selected "Mog house" then "Gardening." Picked my active pot from the list, examined it, and moved to the harvest line. I closed my eyes, Took a deep breath, had a heart attack, and hit enter. One eye popped open and there it was "you harvest a chunk of Lightning Ore."

It's currently on the Jeuno AH listed for 200K. Who knows, it may have sold by now for all i know, and i could be rich! Fabulously wealthy! Moderately well off!
Daffy Duck wrote:I'm rich, I'm a happy meiser.....
Though i did it a slightly different way.
Brass pot, planted darksday new moon a tree sapling. on lightningsday when i could fertilize i dropped in a lighting ore, then again on lightningsday when i could fertilize again. I then picked on the first lightningsday i could once it was ready to harvest.

Also learned something important while growing fire crystals. ALWAYS EXAMINE BEFORE YOU HARVEST.

hihi .... like to share my result on tree sapling

so far i've only planted 2tree sapling.

Pot > ceramic
Planted on ice day
Feed ice crystal on ice day
Harvest on ice day (fullmoon)

Result = 12Plat leaves and 10Plat leave

Did not get Ice ore :P

But all in all, still a profit
2xpot, 2xtreesapling, 4xlcecrystal = abt 20k

Plat leaves = 20k per stack on Remora (so make abt 15k profit)

Conclusion:
If Plat leave is the ONLY alternate result from the above combination,
then it is still worthwhile to plant sapling. Pls feedback if there are other
result from the above combination. It is too X for me alone to test out
all possibility, such as using different pot

Tree saplings in ceramic or porcalin. Planted on waxing gibbous Darkday.

Fed Dark crystals twice on Darkday.

Harvested on Lightday, waxing gibbous or full.

From four pots, two dark Ore, 5- 10 perskowhatever fruits.

A harvest of tree saplings and 10 pots are waiting for.... umm... me to get the nerve to plant them. I wonder if I can keep up the 50% rate of sucess.

Do u mean dark ore??? <<< good work

Read from a forum that using either porcalin or arcane pot
will reduce increase the growth rate for tree sapling ...
maybe buy an arcane pot to try and compare ... lol

cheers ..

my garden is going to exponentially grow. Sunday at 6pm is going to be a New Moon Darksday, and i'm going to give over my entire garden to Ore production.

Hopefully, i'll be a millionaire in a month.

Yes, I did mean Ore, going to edit.

You can get the Arcane pot theough the Strange Aparatuses, another thing I did not get around to before my restart. A bit complex that one, check Mysterytour.

The easy way (i think) is to get lots of yellow pot.
Coz pot takes up 1 space and give 2 earth pt.

Cheers :P

So far the only use I have seen for Moghancement: Gardening is to reduce the chance of wilt when you wait too long to check.

Could you post links to these guides?

actually ALL pots give mogenhancnement: Fishing. Can't make it TOO easy for you to garden, now can they?

I bought a workbench a Table and a water cask in sandoria, (cask in rainbroy's groceries and workbench and table in Woodworking guild, all told it was about 5K) it was enough to overpower my strength 7 in mog: Fishing, from my pots, with the combined 12 in Mog: garden. I've got pictures if klenath will let me post them.

I'm saving up for a TaruTaru desk that will increase the mog: Gardening by another 6. the desk is hard to find since it is a unprofitable woodworking synth-only item.

Actually, from what i understand (from the various forums/FAQs)
on moghouse enhancement, this is how it work to determine what
element and what enchancement you get.

1) Element - Add up all the element pts from all the stuffs you had
layout. The element that gave you the most pts will be the element
of your moghouse.

2) Enhancement - From the stuffs that contribute to (pt 1), the
single piece of furniture that gave out the most element pt, will
have its enhancement in effect. eg you can have 1 maple table
with 10 pots >>> Gardening enhancement. (not fishing)

cheers

I do the same thing as far as dark ore.
Plant on darksday
Feed dark crystal on darksday
Harvest on lightsday

I currently grow 18 at once, with a near 75% success rate (but ALWAYS more then 50%) on Dark Ore.
Started with just one, but as i grew more my garden (and my greed) got bigger

I learned something verrry important.

For Ores, feed and harvest on Waxing Gibbous.

It took a MASSIVE crop failure when harvesting on Lightday, Full Moon 100% to teach me that.

While I consider the data valuble, it will never buy my spells.

i learned something. You have to grow the ore in the right pots too. Brass pots are Linked to fire element. I grew 2 fire ores w/o failure using the method i described. I tried 5 wind ores, and got windurtian tea leaves out of 4 and only one wind ore. I should have used Ceramic pots for Wind ore.

Sorry to change the subject  but this Curious Little Kitten has a few questions for you cats with the green paws.

I mine a lot and in the course of my mining I tend to smelt (with the use of fire crystals) as much as I can so that my mining trips are much more profitable. Not only that but I tend to use a lot of fire crystals in my crafts and will always have a huge need for fire crystals. Well, recently on Alexander fire crystals have stabilized at 4.5k a stack. As you can imagine this eats deep into my profits. So, I've decided to grow my own.

This isn't the first time I've attempted this, a while back I tried two different recipes using four pots each time and every time I only grew bay leaves :( and bay leaves do not do a very good job smelting down ores. Well, I've gotten a few more mules now and I want to outfit them with gardens to grow, in particular, fire crystals for my crafts. Here is the recipe that I hear works the best:

Brass Pot + Herb Seed + Water Crystal = (if I've been a good kitty) Fire Crystals

Can anybody offer me any other advice on how to maximize my crop of fire crystals?

Thank you. /bow

Plant them on light orrr dark day. Feed them on watersday. Harvest near a full moon on waterrrsday. :)

Using this technique, yourrr chance of fire crystals will be about 75%. Each plant should yield arrround 15-20 fire crystals each.

My recipie for crystals:

Plant, feed and harvest on the day that is strong to your crystal, in this case Waterday. Use Brass Pots and Water crystals. Herb seeds work best for Crystal growing.

If posible, plant and harvest on Waxing Gibous.

I have become a believer of gardening on Waxing Gibous.

Well, the results are in!

I planted three gardens, all trying for Fires. Each garden was planted a little differently. All gardens used brass pots, herb seeds, and were fed water crystals. Here is how my three gardens were set up and the results:

(1)
Plant: Watersday (planted on Waxing Gibous)
Fed: Watersday
Harvested: Waterdays, Waxing Gibous 81%
Result: 2 pots of fires, 8 pots of bay leaves

(2)
Plant: Lightsday
Fed: Watersday
Harvested: Waterday, Full moon 90%
Result: 2 pots of fires, 8 pots of bay leaves

(3)
Plant: Darksday
Fed: Watersday
Harvested: Waterday, Full moon 90%
Result: 2 pots of fires, 8 pots of bay leaves

If anybody wants to know how to grow fires with a 20% success rate, come talk to me.

Not sure what I did wrong . . . maybe karma is getting me for all those Tarus I've thrown off airships (in the ports of course).

Final thoughts: Happy to have grown some fires but with a 20% success rate . . . it's not worth it.

Well, even then you make a huge profit. 2 pots of fire = 3 stacks of fire crystals. Right now on phoenix, fire sells for a 400g each. Odd though, for some reason I seem to make a much better success rate, do you have moghancement: gardening?

Sure do, I even check on all the pots at least once a real day too. As for huge profit . . . er . . . only about 3k a garden every 3-4 days. Seeds cost 8k on Alexander. So if I sold all of the fires I would get about 11k minus the 8k for the seeds and I would have give or take 3k. Hmmm . . . time for more experiments.

I farm my own seeds since I use the crrrystals for synthing. AH prices have skyrocketed... I expect square will do a cash flush soon once they finish their new fishing system.

Dukuji, I can't see a flaw in your procedure, yet I never get under 40% when gardening for crystals. What blows my returns is low yeild / pot. The "You harvest 2 X crystals" is what really knocks the stuffing out of my avarage.

Gardening is far from an exact science.

Prrsha, I still believe that moghancement: gardening is only good for preventing wilt when left unchecked too long. Can you please point me to any site where moghancement: gardening is explained or duscused. Other than Pikko's excelent site. (She lives on Garuda BTW)

Yeah I know. I was trying to find some reason why he was getting low yields and I am getting high.

Ran an experiment.

12 Brass pots, all planted on the Waxing Gibbous. 6 planted on Lightday, 6 on Fireday. All fertilized with Water on Fireday. Results:

Lightday plantings, 3 pots of Fire crystals, 18, 18, & 17, 3 pots of Bay Leaves, 8, 6, & 6.

Fireday plantings, 1 pot of Fire crystals, 19, 5 pots of Bay Leaves, 7, 4, 4, 4, & 6.

Next experiment will be Waterday vs. Lightday plantings.

Experrriment part II,

Herb seeds trying for Fire Crystals.

Planted on Lightday WG, and Waterday 90% Full. Six each. Fertilized with Water on Waterday.

Harvested this morning, not a good moon.

Lightday pots. 1 yeilded 18 Fire Crystals, the rest between 4 and 8 Bay Leaves each.

Waterday pots. All yeilded 5 to 7 bay leaves each.

Anyone boiling Crabs? Oh wait, no one else is on Garuda.... /sigh

Reason I had to try this way, Piko Pots shows a good chance of and ammount of fire crystals from this one.

Things I NEED to know; Time window for feeding and harvesting by seed. I would like to be able to harvest these Grain products on the Waxing Gibbous, just don't know how long to wait. Nor do I have the info I need to worrrk backwarrrds and calculate planting times so I can both feed and harvest on WG.

Elemental Ore Recipe Attempt 1

I. Preparation
The pots are a one-time purchase, so after your first batch it will be that much more profit. you could save money by buying/farming cuttings, just keep in mind it will take another 3 weeks for those to mature into saplings. (note: if you do wish to do this, never feed a crystal to the cuttings to get saplings. trust me on this.)
Quote:
40 Porcelain pots~5k per pot (cermet chunks traded to alchemist, 1 chunk=1 pot)
1 Oak table for each 5 pots @ 6k: 48k---> adds gardening moghancement allowing you to stay longer amounts of time away from examining your plants without them dieing...
Plant 40 Tree Saplings---> Preferred day:Lightsday, Waxing Crescent (best planting moon phase and day, but moon phase is most important part)~88k/stack
Wait ~ 1 week

II. Feedings
I used 5 pots total for each element, so as to not flood the market if I get many elemental ores.
On the first feeding days, I attempt to feed 5 plants at a time, and keep a record. Here was my record I used:

Light Ore
Lightsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Lightsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Dark crystal

Dark Ore
Darksday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Dark crystal
Darksday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Light crystal

Fire Ore
Iceday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Iceday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Fire crystal

Water Ore
Firesday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Firesday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Water crystal

Lightning Ore
Watersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Watersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Lightning crystal

Earth Ore
Thundersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Thundersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Earth crystal

Wind Ore
Earthsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Earthsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Wind crystal

Ice Ore
Windsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal
Windsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Ice crystal

III. Harvesting
I try my best to always harvest either during waxing gibbous or full moon, and on the day matching the pot's intended ore.

Light Batch: 18 Shell Bugs, 16 Gold Leafs
Dark Batch: 12 Shell Bugs, 12 Gold Leafs, 2 Dark Ore
Fire Batch: 18 Shell Bugs, 16 Gold Leafs
Water Batch: 14 Shell Bugs, 10 Gold Leafs
Lightning Batch: 8 Shell Bugs, 20 Gold Leafs, 2 Lightning Ore
Earth Batch: 16 Shell Bugs, 14 Gold Leafs, 1 Earth Ore
Wind Batch: 21 Shell Bugs, 24 Gold Leafs
Ice Batch: 13 Shell Bugs, 8 Gold Leafs, 1 Ice Ore

10 stacks Shellbugs @ 1.5k/stack---> 15k
10 stacks Gold Leafs @ 15k/stack---> 150k
6 Elemental Ore @ 120k-200k--->970k

Subtract expenses @ 200k pots + 294k saplings +48k Oak Tables +13k Crystals---> 555k for me and 3 mules (~140k to start 1 moghouse setup)

Total profit, batch 1: 580k

Elemental Ore Recipe Attempt 2

I. Preparation
This time, I decided to take a different route that i don't see many people taking, out of curiosity. I hope it pays off.
Quote:
40 Porcelain pots
Plant 40 Tree Saplings---> Preferred day:Lightsday, Waxing Crescent Wait ~ 1 week

II. Feedings
I used 5 pots total again for each element, so as to not flood the market if I get many elemental ores.
On the first feeding days, I attempt to feed 5 plants at a time, and keep a record. Here was my record I used:
Light Ore
Lightsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Lightsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Light crystal

Dark Ore
Darksday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Darksday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Dark crystal

Fire Ore
Iceday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Iceday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Fire crystal

Water Ore
Firesday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Firesday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Water crystal

Lightning Ore
Watersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Watersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Lightning crystal

Earth Ore
Thundersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Thundersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Earth crystal

Wind Ore
Earthsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Earthsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Wind crystal

Ice Ore
Windsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots NOTHING
Wait ~ 1 week
Windsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Ice crystal

III. Harvesting
I try my best to always harvest either during waxing gibbous or full moon, and on the day matching the pot's intended ore.

Light Batch: 2 Dark Clusters, 67 Gold Leaves
Dark Batch: 18 Light Clusters
Fire Batch: 11 Ice Clusters, 2 Reishi Mushrooms, 1 Fire Ore
Water Batch: 8 Reishi Mushrooms, 14 Gold Leaves, 1 Water Ore
Lightning Batch: 3 Wind Clusters, 3 Water Clusters, 9 Reishi Mushrooms*
Earth Batch: 12 Lightning Clusters, 3 Reishi Mushrooms**
Wind Batch: 10 Earth Clusters, 10 Gold Leaves, 1 Wind Ore***
Ice Batch: 7 Wind Clusters, 3 Water Clusters, 3 Reishi Mushrooms, 9 Gold Leaves*
*-Ok, I goofed on these two batches... I was on the last phase of full moon and panicked, so I disregarded the day (firesday), assuming full moon would give me something decent... as you can see, this is NOT THE CASE! The only days you should ever consider harvesting for half-decent results is the intended ore's day or the day WEAK to the intended ore. this also applies to light & dark, since they are naturally weak to each other.

**-Waning gibbous... massive crystals, that's about it... This test strengthens my theory that waxing gibbous or full moon is best for higher quality results, when waning gibbous is less likely to give intended results, while still nice quantity of lower quality stuff.

*** Ok, this one confused me a bit, but in a wierd way, it makes sense. After realizing it was 22:55 windsday on my last chance to feed a crystal, I hot-logged and went on to my mule, and rush-fed the 5 pots for wind- 3 got fed windsday, but 2 were fed at watersday, because I was late. The wierd part was, one of those 2 pots was my Wind Ore! As I thought about it, days to feeding does seem to have some randomness to it, feeding days therefore isnt a fixed value. Still, feeding on the matching day signifcantly increases your odds to HQ yields.

Subtract expenses @ 294k saplings +0k Crystals (grown)---> 294k

Total profit, batch 2: ~350k

What I Learned from this batch---

1. Day and moonphase, in that order, are the priorities in when you want good results, hands-down.
2. light+ element is better by far than nothing + element. Pretty obvious, but I'm voicing it for the sake of completeness.
3. The day to feed isnt hardly as important as the day/moon to plant and to harvest.
4.A wierd factor- the location in the room I set my pots seems to effect the yields! Think about the compass points and the stars: dark being north, thunder northwest, the rest circling to the other 6 points,,, wierd fact is, on my first batch, the only ore I had 2 yields of were dark and thunder... my tables are centered on the north end of my moghouse, (promotes dark), and thunder ore was positioned on the left extreme side (accounting for northwest compass direction)... If this is true, I may be able to further effect future yields! ^^

Elemental Ore Recipe Attempt 3

I. Preparation
This time, I decided to take a rumored but not heavily documented route that i hear many people taking. Again, I hope it pays off.
Quote:
40 Porcelain pots
Plant 40 Tree Saplings---> Preferred day:Lightsday, Waxing Crescent Wait ~ 1 week

II. Feedings
I used 5 pots total again for each element, so as to not flood the market if I get many elemental ores.
On the first feeding days, I attempt to feed 5 plants at a time, and keep a record. Here was my record I used:
Light Ore
Lightsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Light crystal

Lightsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Light crystal

Dark Ore

Wait ~ 1 week
Darksday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Dark crystal

Fire Ore
Iceday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Fire crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Iceday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Fire crystal

Water Ore
Firesday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Water crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Firesday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Water crystal

Lightning Ore
Watersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Lightning crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Watersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Lightning crystal

Earth Ore
Thundersday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Earth crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Thundersday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots (missed, nothing)

Wind Ore
Earthsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Wind crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Earthsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Wind crystal

Ice Ore
Windsday feeding 1---> feed 5 pots Ice crystal
Wait ~ 1 week
Windsday feeding 2---> feed 5 pots Ice crystal

III. Harvesting
I try my best to always harvest either during waxing gibbous or full moon, and on the day matching the pot's intended ore. From what I see, the larger the positive difference from planting to harvesting, the better the yields, in general.

Light Batch: 45 Gold Leaves
Dark Batch: 3 Light Clusters, 64 Rock Salt
Fire Batch: 134 Cinnamon, 3 Ice Clusters
Water Batch: 48 Mythril Leaves, 2 Fire Clusters, 1 Water Ore
Lightning Batch: 61 Silver Leaves, 3 Water Clusters
Earth Batch: 35 Kitrons, 2 Earth Ore
Wind Batch: 49 Windurstian Tea Leaves, 5 Earth Clusters, 1 Wind Ore
Ice Batch: 24 Platinum Leaves, 5 Wind Clusters
Subtract expenses @ 294k saplings +0k Crystals (grown)---> 294k

Total profit, batch 3: ~700k

I take not credit for this...
