She Replies "All Mithra arrre girrrls silly."

What gender springs to mind and why? Or do you even worry about it?

being a girl i'm asked that question a lot. But I simply look at them and say, "I'm a girl actually, but if gender is this important to you based offa character in an online game rather then the fun and companionship this party brings..... then maybe you shouldnt be here." Gender doesnt matter to me, my well...... Sorry that next sentance would just reopen wounds with my best friend IRL, but what I'm trying to say is, half of us here are girls, (gimmie a shout out ladies~) the rest are guys, but does gender matter to you? becuase You seriously should get your head checked if it does.

I generally act as I act, and say nothing about RL gender. I don't ever bring the subject up, but will respond honestly when asked. I like to keep the illusion of the game whereever I can, if that makes any sense.

what's funny, b/c I'm generally a thoughtful person and try to be considerate to others, in game and in RL, in game ppl just assume that I'm a girl. I guess ppl don't assume guys to be considerate and all that jazz.

Most people cannot tell what I am behind the computer. I never talk about RL stuff, I let Sabre do my talking. Why would it matter anyway? You are talking to a character on a game, unless you want to talk eeeeewie gross cyber, then ewwwwww

guess it may matter to some at that point

I like to play the role of Gospel. When I play FF I am Gospel but I do also talk a little bit about RL if the moment calls for it.

However I never tell them my gender unless they ask. Alot of people assume that I am female coz i do kind of act it in game. But unless they ask i wont tell.

Of course if they do ask i tell them straight away. I have no problem being a male. I guess i'm just what people call Metrosexual. I guess I can relate to darkmattre with the whole consideration thing. We are a dying breed of male Dark. But I wouldnt want to be any other way than the considerate, caring male that i am.

but more and more I begin to realize that I have to be a complete dick to some people, otherwise they will take full advantage of good will. I don't like to be that way, but there comes a point where it goes from "treat as you like to be treated", to "treat as you've been treated."

Thoughtful responses, but not what I was looking for.

That is my response you see. It doesn't only say "I don't tell", it also says "I am a Role Player."

Just in case they missed the accent.

Some hear that response and instantly assume I am a guy. Others assume it means I am a girl. I want to know what thought processes would lead to either conclusion. The why of it.

Once I walked into a party and after a few sentences full of rrrs someone asked THE QUESTION. After my stock answer was put out he said, "OK, that's where I thought you were at."

Wow, someone got it rrright.

ever so much better than asking if my R key is sticky....

why assume guy. Trying to role play kinda thing.

why assume girl. Trying to avoid little kids with a hard on from hitting on you by keeping RL gender a secret.

I like to role play, but I'm not about to lie to ppl when they ask.

Once again I ask you not to paint people with such a large brush. Not all men are like that nor are Americans. In fact the majority of Americans are kind, upstanding citizens. To snub your nose at all of us just because of the actions of a few is insane. It would be like me saying, "All Japanese are evil because of the war atrocities commited in WWII." Or, "The cult bombing of their own subway system by religion zealots proves that all Japanese are terrorists" Such claims would be insane.

I know the deeds that were done were only the act of a few people and does not reflect on the people of the nation as a whole. The same thing goes for Americans. You can't judge us because of the actions of a few and making blanket claims are just bound to upset the people here on the boards. I kindly ask you to take that into consideration.

Oh granted there are bad people out there but my point is that you cannot paint them all with the same brush. Not every American is perverted, not every Japanese was a war criminal, not every German was a supporter of the third Reich, etc. Also not every man is a pig nor every woman an airhead.

The mistakes people make is that they like to classify people in nice little categories. Be it through race, gender or nationality. But the thing is that no single human is alike. Entire nations or genders of people cannot be categorized and sorted into little Bad/Good columns.

Why do people do that? Well, some people do it because they view the "others" as different to themselves and therefore "bad". Some watch too much media and assume that everything said therein is the whole picture of everything. Others just want someone to hate or blame for their current problems and look for a group different then themselves as a scapegoat.

It's prejudice plan and simple. Sure I don't like the current leader of our government or his staff members, but do I compare all of the US to George Bush or his policies? No. Do I look at every Arab I see and proclaim he is a terrorist? No. The actions of them (believe it or not) are the actions of a few and not the many.

Most people in the world are very nice people. The problem is that the media doesn't highlight those people enough nor does kindness really shape the globe. Conflict does. That's the reason why most of the news focuses on such things and portrays humanity (in general) as evil.

My god could you imagine if another race out there in the universe based their assumptions on we humans based on our transmittions from our media? We would be assumed to be horny, violent, warlike and complete and utter idiots. TV doesn't equate to real life.

Here is my thoughts, you said German, well Did you know that the only Nazi soldiers, who truely were them were hilters personal goons? The German Navy/Army guys, weren't nazi but labeled that becuase of Hitler and the SS/Gestapu(sp). The real military, who were jsut used by the nazi's only fought to defend their homes and the like. Much like any military fights to defend their homes. Just Information from a friend who used to live in Germany when he was stationed at an Army Base there, (He's out did his time hehe, this was back in 90s though)

I've been stationed in germany briefly working for Marine Forces Europe. Left for Japan right after to Iwakuni on Mainland. Not to many people bring up WWII in either place. Atleast from what I've encountered.

Germany is a great place Prrsha, I hope to go back. I loved Japan also Yugi, I hope to go back there someday as well.

But since FFXI will go with me in the game I will RP the way I think Mithra will act. Curious and Excitable. Thats Y its a Role Playing Game.
