The NPC helper quest killed my PC!!!!

I was like the hundreds of people on my server last nigth and decided to run through the motions for the NPC helper quest, I got to the point where you have to go to Ghelshba outpost to the "Save the Childrens" hut and there was a line that was soo long it was spilling over to almost the Ronfaure zone. My PC promptly died at that point and booted me back to windows!!!!!! I decided it would be a gopod thing to call it a night and logged off. Anyone else have this happen to them?

You and your weak minded connection.
As for the NPC its crap IMO. Her (I chose the red haired
{mithra
} named Raka)
{Provoke
}, which she does every chance she gets, seems to create little to no hate for her and a quick strike from my
{Dagger
} even after a
{Provoke
} and the mob is back facing me.
Absolutely no commands to give her
I couldn't heal her either (sub /whm I will not)
Can't even pick what
{job
} they should be...No I don't need another stupid
{warrior
}.
And not to mention doing the quest, which was ridiculously crowded and I had to stand in a line for both the
{Eldieme Necropolis
} and the
{Ghelsba Outpost
} portions.
Worst {quest} ever

Apparently this one uses a
{sword
} and
{shied
} instead of the traditional
{axe
} or
{Great axe
}...

And be pissed once you realize how short a time the NPC actually follows you around when compared to the 20 hour recast on the pearl.

not really, because its like most normal Chicken Mc N00blet parties where everyone has to go after 10 minutes and not much gets done.
obtw, dont click on your npc, they will stay with you longer that way....
dont zone and
dont die... thats prolly the more important of the two...

From what I know, the NPC is actually pretty tough for something Level 30 initially. Also, the NPC is initially a Paladin-type character.
You CAN heal/buff your NPC apparently, just not with party-only buffs like Regen and... such. I think -ra spells don't affect it either. Use <ft> to target your NPC for cures and stuff.
Oh yeah, you can discuss strategy and stuff at the various Rendevous points in towns once your NPC levels up to at least 31 (which is one level, obviously). So far, the possible choices of strategy are "Attack type", "Shield type", and "Healer type". I can only assume that changing strategy changes your NPC's job.

Me and my shadow....
I chose an Elvaan Female and she is prettier than I am /pout.
30 min. duration, 20 RT hours recast.
Went out on a fun date with her in Jugner forest. I was BLM/WHM and mostly pulling with debuffs while using a dagger. Next date I will test her Hate controll by nuking heavily.
She admits to having Magic points, and I presume she heals herself, but I can't see it, just I don't have to heal her much. This plus her sword and shield makes me think she is a PLD, but I realy don't know. She just might be WAR/WHM.... I can heal her BTW, click the spell, then tab and fire. There is a new <ft> (did I get it right?) command, haven't tried it yet.
Went to the Rondevue Point to talk to her afterward and she was wearing a new Garrison Tunica. Not only is she prettier than me, she has more Gil than I do too!!!

Question: do you have to fight in an area where you gain {experience points} too in order to level up your NPC, or can you fight {too weak}s that would otherwise {incredibily tough} to your NPC?

I talked to my NPC at the Rendezvous Point, but she didn't give me the option to change her job type. From what I've read, it seems you need to level them up once, or call them in the field once, to get that option. I wasn't able to call her to help fight yesterday, so I'll try today and see. I really want a Healer type to keep me up while I cuts the enemies down.
