Interesting idea about making cash.

I stole this from another message board I read.

I figured I'd share this little tip with you starving mages/ninja/rangers/(insert expensive class).

If you didn't already know, beastman seals are used for battles at the 3 Burning Circles found around Vana'diel. One is in Giddeus, one is in Yughott Grotto, and one is in Palborough Mines. These battles, commonly called BCNM battles, teleport you to a battlefield where you and your party have to defeat some monsters, after which you receive some fairly random rewards including gil and some nice equipment. You enter these battles by trading a certain # of beastman seals to Shami, an NPC in Port Jeuno, who will give you an orb in return. The number of seals you give him determines the strength of the monsters and the level cap on players entering the battle.

One of them is a bit different. The level 50 BCNM in Giddeus (requiring 50 beastman seals) does not start with a battle. You are presented with 3 chests: a small, a medium, and a large. One of these chests contains 2 items and some gil. The other two are Mimics, and will attack you. If you pick the right chest, no battle. This means you can switch to a level 1 job, have someone escort you through Giddeus, and have a 1 in 3 chance of getting something nice for only 50 beastman seals.

Rewards vary from high level goldsmithing items to rare spells and equipment. I succeeded on my 2nd attempt and got about 1200 gil, a platinum ingot (worth about 70k at the AH), and a Shinobi Ring (level 50 NIN, +4% haste).

hmm I've almost got 50.. might switch to a low level and have someone escort me there to get a 1/3 chance at winning the lottery :)

I tried this myself, and was unsuccessful. I may have done it wrong though, and this is why:

When you enter the battlefield, you see the three chests all lined up, small, medium, large. I wasn't sure how to open the box I chose (the small box), so rather than doing the smart thing and checking it, I attacked my box of choice, and it proceeded to attack me (and the lv40 WHM I was with, who was pulled into the fray unfortunately -_- Sorry Nam).

If anyone decides to try this (I'll give it another shot next time I collect enough seals), check each box first before attacking blindly. Try using wide scan too. It probably won't help any, but hey it couldn't hurt. Good luck ;)

I escorted Phelisia there last night. It was taking to long for me to solo stuff as a WHM27 so I just ran a big train to the BC zone with Phelisia close behind. She picked the Med. box and was killed. I might try it myself tonight since I am so hard up for cash.

The orbs are 30,40,50 beastmen seals right? What lvl party would you need for a 30?

Okay first off, you do indeed attack the chest you want (they all check impossible to gauge). Secondly, Meeyutu lemme know when you wanna go, I'll escort you there (slightly easier for a melee to do it, plus i have three levels on ya

I'll have to try this today... can someone show me way to BC in Giddeus? not exactly sure of way.. and are you saying you and a friend can check different ones?

I did BCNM 50 four times in a row. I have enough seals to try one more time but guess what....I was lucky and won 2 times. BCNM 50 gives you crap gil and even the spells aren't worth very much at all. True, you might get lucky with being able to sell an ingot for 100k or so but that is rare and you already have to get the right chest which is already not in your odds.

BCNM 40 however gives a load of spells and items if you win. I suggest this be done if you want a real challenge, something fun to do, and a real way of making some hard cold gil.
