i love it... is taht the relic equip on the DRG? ive seen that equip just last night as i passed a 72+ DRG... i forgot exact lvl... is it Relic? is it not relic i'm just callin it that because i think its word for the higher lvl version of AF? all i no is that armor isnt the AF and its called "Wyrm" equip

ok...first off I'd like to say that the title of this subject is incorrect to what you meant to say, "dark knight > dragoon" and you showed something that says dragoon is better, i think you meant <

Why Wyverns Don't Wear Armor.
The topic of armor for wyverns came up in the linkshell, and everyone had very unique ideas of what Hien ought to be able to equip. Poor guy. ^^

With the new update, Dragoons are now able to... THROW PEBBLES! Ok, not as exciting as the Bomb Core or the Bows people were hoping for, but hey, it's better than nothing, right?

Strange thing is though, having seen her a few times, I believe she plays as a male elvaan.

Seyenne and Hien are sort of the role models for all dragoons on the Alla forums. If you haven't seen her solo the Sea Horror at level 67 I suggest you check it out.

Just finished watching it... looked like a bunch of running around to me. I think if you had a little WHM Tarutaru pal following you around, it would be the same thing. I've never tried to fight the Sea Horror, so I have no idea how hard it would be to do, especially at level 67, but I wasn't as impressed as the hype made it seem I would be. If she hadn't had a fully charged Call Wyvern, she wouldn't have succeeded. Although, I will give her props for playing Dragoon and being a role model for others to take it up.

Sea Horror is a NM, I didn't know that ^^; level 60-62, think it has a 2hr called "hundred hand slap" or something similar which dishes out the dam very fast, which makes it so fearsome to even high level chars ^^;

ya, the "victory lap" shown there is actually a rather common technique in this case, seeing as how hundered fists will decimate you no matter what your level, unless of course you use Perfect Dodge or Invincible

Josiejo, have you played as a Dragoon? "If she hadn't had a fully charged Call Wyvern, she wouldn't have succeeded."
When do they not? Being a 39Drg myself, it's one time in five hundred or so when I do not have my wyvern out. Wyvern management is not difficult and if you know what you are doing, it's easy to have a timer at 00:00 and a wyvern out for most of your Dragoon's career.

did she do this as drg/whm? cause i heard thats the only way DRG can beat it hmmm...but what do i know? i play the sexy monk mithra thing ^.^ thief too (mithra is thief AF is like OMG!!! its like Prrsha hawt almost...not quiet cause Prrsha is my goddess and there is no possible way to match her beauty)

I was in a half-party that took on Sea Horror (Pld67-war, rdm65-drk, rdm47-whm"me") we almost lost when it busted out the hundred tentacle slap. It tore through both my and the other rdm's stoneskin/phalanx like paper mache. paladin got invincible up just barely and proceded to cover me as i spam healed everyone. I dont think we got a drop, if i rememeber correctly.. we got about 3-5 xp tho.

The two hour is the monks "Hundred Fists" and if you notice how fast and hard it hits, it could easily take down a level 75 caught unprepared. Also Josie, she had planned fighting this thing for a while so she knew she might need that 2hr to be ready, and what better way than sitting on the boat waiting for the NM to spawn there.

It's a two-hour ability, and the only way to avoid having to wait those two hours before calling it again is to either do something safe for 2 hours, or dismiss it at full health. I'm sure it was planned out beforehand, but I'm just saying it's kinda cheap, and not at all like soloing. I can't deny that it's a good thing that Dragoons can take on a monster like that without another PC helping, but having 2 fully-charged NPC helpers who take damage for you and heal you is not exactly my definition of soloing.Eviticus wrote:Josiejo, have you played as a Dragoon? Yes, it is a 2-hour ability. One which is in constant use for 99% of all dragoons. But yet, I see very few Dragoons in FFXI. I see more beastmasters. If this makes a character that great, why aren't people clammoring to finish their drg flag quest? Why do people say that Drg is gimped? If they constantly have a little NPC buddy out, why aren't more people going OMG Luk 4+ teh Dr4g00n sk1LLz.
Even as Drg/Whm, soloing is still soloing. Beast masters solo, and they have a pet around with them too. Beast master pets are even more powerful. A charmed monster can take an easy prey. My wyvern will need a spirit link or two, which hurts me severely, to take on stuff like that. They just don't have high damage outputs.
Sorry if I am ranting, I just find it odd that you say Dragoons don't solo when they fight monsters by themselves. Dragoons lack severely in passive and active traits. The majority of their power is invested solely in their Wyvern dependant on their subjobs. The Wyvern is at least a full third, if not half, of all of the power and versatility in a Dragoon. To say that their Wyvern is unfair in situations like that, implies they'd be more balenced without it. Without my wyvern, I don't think I could take out any other class my level in a one v. one match.
