Mithra Weakness Revealed

I got this from the History of Vana'diel FAQ. It's supposedly constructed from in-game history (such as the stone monuments you are sent to find in that Selbina quest), various missions, and of course, collected writings from Square-Enix itself. Still, I don't know how accurate it is, but it looks pretty convincing.
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file ... istory.txt

Anyway, they state that Promathia was the cause of weaknesses in the five races Altana created:

The elvaan, obviously, have arrogance as their weakness (being rudely insulted by Halver during the last Rank 2 mission despite being there to save his butt drives that point home, and the guards aren't friendly either).
The humes have apathy, which is believable considering their treatment of the galka.
The tarutaru have cowardice (witnessing a tarutaru "guarding" the Horutoto Ruins nearly wet himself when confronted by cardians in an early Windurst mission confirms that prejudice :P ).
The galka are plagued with rage as their weakness (Bastok is full of disgruntled galka).

But according to the FAQ, the mithra have "envy" as their weakness.

Envy?

I'm trying to think of situations where mithra have proven envious... but I really can't come up with anything.

Direct linking doesn't work.

You'll have to copy and paste the adress to get the page opened.

What should mithra be envious about indeed... :?:

i think you may have it mixed up...

Hume are more likely for Envy

Mithra are more likely for Apathy

(Spoiler alert)

you want proof for hume having envy... remember the one magicite memory that the hume guy was jealous of a hume girl likeing a galka over him and plotted to kill the galka? case closed.

I can see Mithra far more apathetic than envious. I can see humes far more envious than apathetic. The story is either wrong, or the FAQ is.

meh . . .

btw, it does say that mithras downfall is their apathy and Humes is their envy. Here is the direct quote:
That Silly-Unoffical-History-Write-Up-That-EveryBody-Takes-As-Scripture wrote:There was another god, awakened and watching, from his place in the shadows. Promathia, God of Twilight, angered by what he had seen saw fit to condemn her work. Bringing out each of the 5 races darkest attributes - the elvaan's arrogance, the hume's envy, the apathy of the mithra, the cowardice of the taru, and the galka's rage.
But, I really don't like that history. With no references (like the male mithra were killed in battle, where is game does it say that) I have a hard time accepting all that history write up has to offer.

Edit: Sorry for all the edits, I kept finding error is my words.

It is not that the Mithra have envy. It is just that everyone envies the mithra!

Would wouldn't want to be a cool kitty cat with a cool kitty tail and cool kitty ears that wiggle to and fro.

Mithra may envy other mithra for keeping the mythical Manthas all locked away in the houses of Windurst. Apparently the mithra are keeping their males locked away for some reason, either it is for reproduction or keeping the buggywhip business alive, either way, i don't wanna know.....

You want Mithra apathy? Look no further than Kazam where all the kitties just lay peacefully about in their RSE and tell you how more peacful they all are here in the motherland than you lowly mainland kitties.

My first thought when some Kazam kitty told me that was "If you arrre so darrrnit peaceful, how did you get big enough to wearrr that rrred outfit sisterrr?"

I just got to Kazaam and is it really the homeland of the mithra? If so could the ever more elusive male mithra be found and cat-alogued, sorry i had to pun-ish you all with that one.

Hmmm . . . :? . . . I've just noticed something . . . something that may prove that that History write up has at least one error in it. (Thanks to Kashell that is   )

The history says, ". . . the hume's envy, the apathy of the mithra . . ." but if Kashell is correct in saying that the Ark Angels make reference to their own race's 'weakness' then as we can see from the screen shot the mithra mentions envy and the hume mentions apathy. Hmmm . . . if my premises are correct then we have a contradiction. :?

Actually, the revised FAQ that I linked to correctly says humes have apathy and mithra have envy. Otherwise, I wouldn't have thought so in the first place ;)

So....what are Mithra supposed to be envious of? If it was (seriously) mentioned here I missed it.

This is what I was wondering . . . in my travels it's the mithra that act very apathic towards . . . well . . . everything . . .

The humes seem more envious, they seem to want everything! They want to be more powerful then the Elvaan, have more magic then the tarus, be richer than Jeuno . . . while the mithra are content just to go hunting and wear loincloths . . .

Rawr! Loincloths!

Anyways, it seems like the Crysta warriors got their lines mixed up. Honestly, after going around talking with the mithra of kazham, and the humes of bastok, I'm really starting to think that they switched scrpits.

Yeah I agree. There are some scripts that are backwards in FFXI. Take the movton NPC merchant in Windurst forrr example.

Because when he says that you don't have control of the area. He says "I dropped all of my goods on the way" when you DO have control of morvaton. So his quotes are backwards.

so, I take it that the beastmen have to be in control of the area in order to have access to his stuff.

To all who have actually been to morvarpolis:

What the hell dies this *$$^4#'in moblin sell?
(My my, that rhymed...)
