Hm...main favorite bands?

Primus
Queen
Pink Floyd
Offspring

These four bands dominate my playlist, well...the English part at least..Runner up is Evanescence. I like plenty of other stuff, but these four are what I have most of. I used to have a lot of Korn, but I lost a bunch of it when I switched computers.

Favorite Japanese artists?

Ayumi Hamasaki
Gackt (I probably have more Gackt than anything, to be honest)
Daisuke Ishiwatari (Guilty Gear soundtrack)
The Black Mages (Nobuo Uematsu's band)

Mostly alternative, punk, game remixes, although I pretty much like anything but Country, Heavy Metal and Showtunes. (Showtunes means stuff like American cartoon themes or sitcom themes, or operas... I like some anime music.)

I've been listening to Green Day - American Idiot at work lately, as well as some stand-up comedy routines.

Thanks Evictus, I didn't think ANYONE knew Steeleye Span any more. If you like them, try Pentangle, Fairport Convention, and Hickory Wind.

I will listen to most music and try dancing to the rest, but nothing excites me musicaly anymore, rather strange as I used to make my living with a guitar.

Raido either has stations who haven't changed their playlist in DECADES, and who have permantly ruined 1/3 of the Beatles catolouge for me, or "modern "music"" which my genX friends don't listen to either.

I have yet to get a music browser to let me listen to more than a small sample of a number. Sometimes I feel hopelessly stuck in the 20th century.

My Winamp playlist is all video game music - FF soundtracks, Black Mages, ICO, Kingdom Hearts, Grandia, Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, "Time's Scar" from Chrono Cross (the only thing of any redeeming value from that game, IMO), etc.

I also have a taste for Irish music.

Hmm...

I guess I will chime in. I take after my father as far as music respects in that I collect alot of music. My favorites:

Megadeth
Depeche Mode
Ozzy Osborne
Powerman 5000
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO)
Cold (So sad they broke up :( )

You can probably see a trend in that I like rock music. It is hard to pick an absolute favorite, but these are my top 6. As far as non english music, I have a massive anime music collection.... don't even get me started on what I like there. :P

Oh, come on, Chrono Cross is cool. :P I really love the opening theme and the Nikki guitar rift play theme. Chrono Trigger also has some good tracks. Know where I can find ICO soundtrack though? Been thinking of getting it, but not sure if worth it. What do you think? (Looking forward to the game's sequel Wanda and the Colossus. :) )

As to music, right now I listen to mostly anime soundtracks, some new age, plus the occasional hiphop and rock on the radio. Yuki Kajiura and Yoko Ishida are my current favorite Japanese music artists and I have them in my car onhand every day. :D New Age wise, I highly recommend CUSCO, especially CUSCO 2000 and Apurimac II. They make some good digital compositions that's both thrilling and soothing.

If you mean Irish as Celtic, Sivara, I admire those too. ^^ When I listen I often feel like I'm floating in that mystical mist and fog.

And a side note, love the icon. Very cool.

My car is filled with several CD's of Yoko Kanno, my all-time favorite artist, and one of the greatest composers to ever walk the face of the earth.

The newest one I've been listening to is Wolf's Rain, which is simply stunning. Escaflowne is my absolute favorite compilation of music, and of course I love Cowboy Bebop as well.

Also in my car is countless video game soundtracks ^^ Uematsu, Mitsuda, Sakuraba, all my heroes.

The only pop (generic term, not specifically) music I listen to is Linkin Park. They have an awesome sound.

*Note to Shirai, Kopopo, and other Kanno fans: Do you have Kanno's works for Koei's games? (Nobunaga's Ambition, Rot3K) Her arranged albums of those are also wonderfully diverse, but an absolute must-have is the arranged album for Nobunaga no Yabou: Tenshouki (Chronicles of Heaven). I believe it's the very first video game album performed by a world-renowned symphony orchestra, and it's marvelous. Hard to find, but all you need is DC++ (I use BCDC client) and two servers: vgmusic.no-ip.com, and the Yoko Kanno Lossless Music Hub (I forget the server address at the moment, I'll edit when I get home). Those guys have *everything*.

*Note to Kopopo and Meesa: Have you heard the Xenosaga II: Movie Scene Sountrack album? ^_^

Haven't seen anybody say it yet but I'm a big Northwest Indie fan. {Built to Spill?} {Yes Please!}

I do enjoy a lot of music. (Everything but country; god knows how I hate it!) And by a lot I mean that on some days you can find me listening to Rap in the mornings, Japanese Techno in the afternoons, Baroque concertos in the evenings, and Reggae (especially Dub) at night.

Oh, also, I'm a Zep Head as well.
