Christmas Trees!

So who else likes what they've done with all the trees/lights in the major cities in the game? I love how Jeuno has Christmasy music. It's so cute!

I came out of my mog house in Southern San d'Oria a few days ago (when they first started the xmas tree thing) and went, "WHOOOOOOOOOOA." once it all downloaded.

So pretty!

hehe, yeah I am enjoying the music when Im in jeuno, much better than the normal music they have, and the trees and lights in the cities are a nice touch, think they could use a few more lights in my opinion tho. I mean just think of what the cities would look like with more decorative lights at night :P

I remember last year's Christmas setup. No new music but some of the decor made for major lag. If you wanna listen to the Christmas in Jeuno music outside of the game just get the FFXI Music plugin for Winamp (available on my site) and the file itself is called music239.bgw. Enjoy!

I hope the trees don't go crazy this year and we don't have to fight them again.

Last year the Manustery (the group of Windurst mages that created the Cardians) decided it would be a good idea to build giant walking christmas trees. They released 17 "Twinkling Treants" into different zones and shortly after Christmas they, like the Cardians, went haywire and started attacking people.

A reward was to be given to the individual who struck the final blow to each treant. The treants could be attacked by anyone, simultaneously, as long as you had spoken to a nearby moogle and recieved a level cap status for the event. I think the level caps were:

20 for the 6 treants in Sarutabaruta, Gustaberg, and Ronfaure
30 for the 5 in Zulkheim and Kolshushu
40 for the 3 in Meriphataud, Jugner, and Pashhow
50 for the 3 in Sauromugue, Rolanberry, and Batallia

No one knows how many hit points the treants had but I would guess that it was somewhere around 500,000. (Not a typo, they had like five-hundred-thousand hp.) The problem was that the treants with the level 20 cap seemed to be just as hard as their level 50 counterparts. So while you could kill the "harder ones" with say 30 people in 6 hours, that damage would bring the level 20 ones to maybe 90% health.

Eventually they were all killed and as a reward the outpost teleport system was opened.

I checked our gallery and Ishe and Golddess have some screen shots:

No rewarrrd was given for the final blow. If every tree died on that server, a new feature would be added to that server; teleportation guilds. The reason why we can teleport to outposts that we do supply rrruns to is because of that event.

We can tele to supply posts? I am -so- not paying attention to this game, am I..... :(

Tele FROM outposts back to hometown I believe it is, after you've done a supply quest to that outpost. Also, supply quests can only be done to regions under your contry's control at the time. If I remember right. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

You can teleport from an npc in your home city to any outpost you've ever done a supply quest to.

You can tele back to your home city from any outpost you've done a supply quest to as long as the region isn't controlled by beastmen.

sub note, you must also be AT LEAST lvl 20 to use the teleportation system, at least to return to your city, i dont know if you need to be a specific lvl to use it in the city, because i havent tried this^^

Outpost teleport level requirements vary by the region, so be forewarned. You can do outpost supply quests to any outpost you control, but you can't necessarily teleport back after doing the supply run.

Ok, can anyone supply specifics? Such as which npc's in which city can do the outpost tele thing, what requirements are, what outposts you can do this to, ect.

On a slightly related note, in Cerberus, I found the past conquest update to be highly amusing. Not counting cities, here's the tally.
Sandoria: 7 areas
Windurst: 6 areas
Beastmen 2 areas
Bastok: 1 area.

Jesus! Just in the last one we were in 1st place! >.< The only reason we have the one we do is because it's Gustaburg.......well, at least signet now lasts 6 hours instead of 4.

For teleporting in general level 20 or better. In adition there is a minimum level to get teleported anywhere in particular. I do not know it exactly, but basicaly you can't get droppedoff where you are a two hit kill.

If a Region is controlled by your home city, it costs the least, Windurst to Pashlow Marshlands 200? 250? I forget, when we owned it. It costs the most when the Beastmen controll it, Qufim 1K at that point.

in bastok the NPC is standing just outside the blacksmith's guild inside the metalworks.

Since i've only done a supply quest to the dunes, and since Bastok on most servers blows in the Conquest race i've rarely had a chance to deliver supplies to other outposts. On Bismark we rarely have anything outside the Dunes, Bubirimu's region and Gustaberg.

i saw the most amazing thing the other day... someone wearing a republic Aketon! With a Bastok Signa Staff! It was awe insipring. Make me want to Be him... I had to take a picture to commemorate it.

Once you do the supply quest to the outpost you can teleport there at anytime, however, if your nation is no longer in control of the area, it costs x3 the normal amount to teleport there.

At lvl 20 you can teleport to the following areas: Burm Penn, West Satura, Valkrum Dunes, Ronfare and Gustaburg. It costs 200g to teleport there if it is under control of your nation. If it isn't, it costs 600g. The other areas vary in level from lvl 25, 30, etc and vary in price as well.

I can hardly wait to see if they have something else planned! I think it would be really cool if they had a gift quest -- like if you went and bought something that your moogle wanted, you'd get a hat or a candy cane in exchange for it or something.

As for finals, I have one today from 2-4, and another one tomorrow, and then get to spend the next week and a half packing up my room. /cry

I hate moving.

This year was kinda fun, thee are tree npcs in each town that when you talk to and complete their quest, they will give you a tree for your mh. Each town has their own style tree and you can actually collect all 3 trees if you want.

i made a quick and dirty faq on it this morning after i completed the one for Windurst.

http://ffxi.prstudios.com/modules/news/ ... toryid=142

They'e also giving out Santa Hats after you complete a small~ish quest for it.

To get the +1 hat you need to have all 3 trees in your MH and you have to give 4-5 EX presents to random kids in the town, without exiting the town. You get a new EX present from the santa each game day.

Once you hand out the prrresents the hat will be under the windurst tree the next morning. :)

I am so going to do that later. That is so cool. After I get rank 5 and can travel more freely.

Actually you dont even need all 3 trees. i just now got it under my one windurst tree.

When i went to give presents to the kids, i bought one and a half stacks of the mid range present (550 gill) and i got 2 of the super presents that the santa taru gives you, i handed the presents out to every child in windurst waters while randomly giving out the last 2 super presents. I still had 5 mid price presents in my inv before i quit. Today i went to my MH and my moogle told me of a suprise he found under the tree, i went out side and opened it and i got a nice santa fireworks display and the Dream Hat +1 appeared in my inventory.

It can be done without buying presents if you don't want to spend the gil.
