more with my odd dreams...

When you get a new ability in-game and start having dreams of using it in RL

This happened to me right after my NIN got utsusemi....i had just seen Elektra too so there was that whole good ninja vs. bad ninja thing(i was on the team with the black uniforms, probly evil ) Oh and i do karate too(red belt) so there was a bit of that in there. basically the dream went like this:

ok the white uniform people(they're all kids, mainly from my karate class) come up and we're all just standing there lookin at each other, the leaders of our two teams are saying something, i'm not paying attention. I look around and see that on my team there's 4 people, their team has 15...not good for me...I look at the kid in front of me and whisper to him, "you think it's too late to switch sides?" so he's snickering and stuff...then the leader people give the order to fight so we all get in fighting stances and then start beating on each other. It was cool was pullin off all these judo moves and a bunch of other stuff i've learned in karate, and i'm flippin the kid all around the place...so once he's on the ground unconcious i look around for someone else to fight. Everyone seemed to be busy fighting someone(somehow we got more people) so i open up my macros and use utsusemi and look some more. I find some kid who's not busy and start goin after him. He just stays back all scared and tries to stay away from me and i'm thinkin "what's wrong with this kid? oh yea....it must be freaky to see 4 of the same person coming after you" then all the sudden the leader people call off the whole thing and they're all buddy-buddy so everyone just goes into the back room and start having punch and cookies and stuff, my mirror images now seem to have minds of their own and walking off and all. then we all sit down together and this little kid and his mom (they take karate too) comes over and starts talking to....us? then after a bit the mom asks the kid "so Derrik, which one's the real Tony?" kid: um....that one!" "that's right!" i'm thinkin after that: if a 5-year-old kid can figure it out after 2 seconds....then how's it supposed to help so much in battle....? then I wake up...my dreams are odd

Red belt?? what school of Karate do you take? The school of karate i take is Okinawan Karate and the belts we have are White, Yellow, Green, Purple, Brown, and Black.

I had a similar dream... but i was NIN/SMN and sparring with my summoned Ifrit, did Mijin Gakure, killed Ifrit then waited for my scroll of reraise to kick in... I've definatly been doing solo-Mini-Avatars too long...

All right, I haven't read through all of these yet, so somebody may have said it, but since this just happend about 30 minutes ago to me I have to share:

I was walking home from the store tonight and I looked up and saw the bright moon. I thought to myself, "Oh, very pretty. Hey, the moon is white so it must be Lightsday." . . . then it dawned on me . . . today is Thursday, not Lightsday . . . D'oh . . . I need more sleep or less school or something . . .

if thats the case everyday is Lightsday

Glad I'm not the only one who's done that. When it's been really dusty outside (I live in AZ, so this is pretty much everyday), I've said, "Must be an earthsday. I wonder where the elementals are?" and get weird looks from people who don't play FF XI...

The other night, in Minneapolis, The moon was so brown I thought it was Earthday , but it was just Saturday.

I had a dream last night about farming as my FF XI character. In the dream I was actually farming as in corn. I had to setup up an auger to get corn in a grain bin and I was in my FF XI duds with long point ears and long neck and everything I even Had my name floating above me. It was also dark out and scary and I thought I saw an undead wolf or something about 100 yards away, but thankfully he didn't aggro. The funny thing was i was literally farming ala. Old Mac Donald. I grew up on a farm and everything was like the farm i grew up on, except for me, I was my FF XI character...


Maybe I need a break from the game....

one time i had a dream that my delivery box had 12 slots and each slot had like 800k in something then i got crazy and kept withdrawing thme and then i woke up no!!!!!

another time i dreamt i was mining in zeruhn and mined a platinum ore (28-32k on my server) and i got happy and woke up again!!!!

i guess my dreams show that i hunger for money and doing anything i can to do it like fishing mining farming and whatever
i wish my dreams would come true i would be a rich son of a beyotch

My analyst at work today was wearing a green shirt and light brown pants. My first thought was, "If he had a brown hat on, he'd look like a pretty damn good ranger."

no its not odd. i used to wake up in dreams of me slaughtering things on my kitty, only to realize it was a dream when i saw the text bar >.>;; god sometimes i wish those dreams would have gone on forever...

You know you play too much ffxi when you make this topic

I've had dreams about FF XI before, so don't feel bad.

The form of karate i take is called Tang Soo Do, a Korean form over a thousand years old. our belts are(not counting Little Dragons aka toddler karate kids): White, orange, green, brown, red, blue, black, then there's 8 different degrees of black belt, the ones i know of being: 4th(or was it 5th) is Master, 8th is Grand Master(only one, Grand Master Jae Chul Shin)

More like an odd bit of history:

The red belt in japanese traditions is the highest belt attained (aka. after black belt) (some traditions have a double-wide white belt, but i'm ignoring those for my argument's sake). So, at some point in history, Japan took over Korea. When Korea regained their independance, they placed the red belt just under the black belt to piss off the Japanese. That's why you have red belts before Shodan ranking in Korean arts (Tae Kwon Do, etc...) and not in Japanese arts (Jujutsu, Karate, Aikido, etc...).

But the pet peeve part is that the Karate/Korean bit bugs me. Karate isn't Korean. /panic

This probably could have been more eloquently put, had I slept more than 2 hours last night.

I've debated composing a Top Ten signs you play too much Final Fantasy myself. I guess it's ended up being a top fifty. I'll add a couple then:

1) You've referred to your close friends by their character's name.

2) When you hit 30, you plan to start life over with an advanced job.

haha, I've yet to do this, but I do write "Baelari" on my papers when I'm sleepy. None of my RL friends play this game, so, I don't have too much of an opportunity. v.v

My friends and I used to talk like we were in-game... we've since found it to be lame and ceased doing so.

I feel the need to edit and clearer state what I was getting at. Let me type this again:

I think you've played too much FFXI when you attempt to cast Silence on your significant other so you can concentrate on playing the game.

1: you do a quest where u have to catch 100k fish, and the reward is a fishing rod. Yes I'm talking about Lu Shang's fishing rod, i'm even running a contest to help out. Details under Gilgamesh: Kitty Get-Togethers: Fish drive

2: I was playing my flute(yes flute it is good dont deny it) in the school band, and while playing Swords Against the Sea, movement 1: Aboard the Queen Ann's Revenge, i think: "this would be great Norg music"

P.S. Swords Against the Sea is a tune made about Blackbeard the pirate(didnt know he was a real pirate before this), movement 1 being about life aboard the pirate ship he was captain of. I wish i could somehow play it for u all but i cant really play music in text, can I? Yes, it would be great Norg music. Then movement 2 is "Awaiting Their Imminent Doom" about when England's navy had him trapped in a cove with no escape except they couldnt go in after him until the tide came up. So yes, they're just sitting there waiting to die basically. Movement 3: "Battle to the Death"....if you cant figure that one out, you have bigger problems than playing FFXI too much.

You get the feeling those people over 6" are really Elvaan....
