That is what I've been saying since SE announced it but everyone on pretty much every FFXI forum says "You're crazy. DNC/NIN or DNC/THF will be the hot job combo"

Have you taken a look at the dances? With /sam we'd be spinning around so much we'd probably collapse from dizziness before the mob was dead.

/Sam, /Thf, /Nin, no way. This is dagger we're talking about. You might as well be hitting the monster with a pixie stick. The TP from /Sam is nice and almost viable, but you need the atk boost from /War. The extra crit and extra dagger from /Thf and /Nin are worthless without the attack to back it up.

Only reason Thf gets away with /Nin is their constant uses of SA, TA, and good WS's.

I think for /nin and/or /thf to be really viable as subs is going to depends a lot on their skill ranking and what ws's SE gives them.

Right now THF is the only one with an A rating in Dagger and access to Dancing Edge and Shark Bite, but SE may decide to let Dancer have the same strong skill ranking and weapons skills as THF. We don't know yet and we won't until we unlock Dancer next week.

/WAR - party
/SAM - HNM
/anything else - you're retarded :P

I proved how Double Attack gains TP faster than Dual Wield II. And over 3 minutes it probably amounts to the same as Meditate and Store TP trait. You'll need to be making your hits count 'cause if you hit for a big fat 0 you won't get any TP.

And no Imps aren't weak to piercing, they're just generally weak :P

I generally think anything with wings is weak to piercing so thanks for the correction

Like a lot of jobs Dancer will probably be able to make use of several different subs for a variety of different reasons and we'll have a better idea of what they are next week.

I'm updating now but I do have a question which will probably be answered by the update but well...

OK. PUP can use Seer's but its a melee job so would I be the only one here who would think SE is out of their minds if Scholar can't use Seer's?

For those of you unaware, Seer's is like the best mage gear and most mages wear it until they get their AF. I know when I leveled WHM it went like this: Robes > Doublet > Trader's/Baron's > Seer's/Mithra RSE > AF > Blessed.

From what I understand Scholar is a mage job and being able to use gear I already own would be awesome. While I know I'm going to get it to sub level right away I don't know if I'll take a break at 50 to wait for AF or just go to 75 with it.

Depends on what gear is out there for Scholar at those later levels I guess. I do know that as soon as I can I will get the AF unless its like the PUP/COR/BLU AF where you have to buy stuff. Then I'll wait for the prices to go to normal. As much as I want Keavy to get her schoolgirl outfit I don't want to go broke and have to tele-taxi or sell the RDM gear I've worked my ass off to get.

Anyways, after the update I'm gonna check on Seer's but I will be on later this week to prepare for Scholar leveling and make some juices to sell. I'm trying to avoid partying to avoid the temptation of using my remaining Anniversary Ring charges on WHM Meriting. I want to use those for Scholar 1-10.

Considering RDM can't wear Seer's (a fact that continues to irritate me) I wouldn't be surprised one way or another if SCH (or DNC for that matter) can wear it or not.

I'm betting 10g Dancer will get the THF/RNG/COR gear sets :P

RDM for me was general crap until RSE, then RSE until AF (with Wise Wizard's Coat or something at 50), then AF until Wise

Yea pretty much. I think I wore dd gear actually until RSE- there just wasn't anything else out at the time that was affordable/useful until the 40s.

actually for most of my mage jobs, i ended up using the same doublet set until seers, and then switched to rse as soon as i could wear it.

however, i did pick up a holy breastplate(whm), brigadine mail(rdm), and manditory Austere Robe(smn) on the route to AF
most of the fighters in the party were really depressed when i wore the holy breastplate, since it had more def than anything they were wearing at the time.

Why'd you wear the Brigadine? It's as ugly as hell and has no benefits

I didnt have rse back then for rdm. after i got rdm up to AF range, then i ended up getting rse for whm to level up
