I'm so pissed off at the prices and action of a now ex ls pal.

I spent my day crafting for the most part and after dynamis- sandy I go back to try to craft and the prices of all my material have doubled.

BUT THE THING THAT PISSED ME OFF

The ls leader came on after we did dynamis and said " Omg Noble just hit 30mil" I was like omfg your kidding right and the dam fool who bought the noble was in the ls. But what was so dam stupid to me was Nikot (guy who bought noble) sold his dam v cloak for 30mil. IDC WHAT ANYONE SAYS TO DEFEND HIM. HE IS A TOTALLY FOOKING MORON IMO FOREVER.

What sense did his actions make in any way. 30mil could have went to so many other dam things it aint even funny and when noble tunic goes down WHICH IT BETTER he will be sitting in ls events with an overpriced noble tunic he bought just to show off he had the money to buy it for the price he wanted.

Some ppl are so stupid it it makes u mad and they think they are funny stupid.

Haubergeons are like 15mill

Im not even sure I wanna know what Emp hairpin and leaping boots ect are like now.. last I knew Emp Hairpin was 4mill...

And there are those who say that gil sellers/buyers, places like IGE don't hurt the game's economy but make it better... bastards, every single one of them.

Gilselling is like a gun: It all depends on how it is used. If a gun is used to protect people from dangerous or delicious animals, then it is a good thing. Or crazed celebrities wanting to jump on our couches, or if you're short on money and rich people are walking down a dark alley.

Anyways, its the people who buy it then use it irresponsibly that are the single biggest problem. We need to inform these people that they are morons wasting real money on fake money for fake items.

Buying Gil is never a good thing IMHO, its akin to cheating.

It would be like me slipping a RL 10 dollar bill to the banker in Monolopy just so he could fork me over $1,000 so I can buy Boardwalk.

FFXI is a game and it has rules. Don't like the rules? Go play a different game.

I'm not saying that, I'm just saying if people used gilbuying to replace farming (i.e. used purchased gil to buy NPC equipment and consumables) gilsellers would be out of business in no time. Gilsellers NEED gilbuyers to buy that Scorpion Harness from them with the gil they bought. If not, they eventually run out of gil to sell and either farm and craft like the rest of us or go away.

Well... there will always be those who want to take shortcuts to get obtain their goals. Be it in life or in game. You can't stop a players greed to get those items through whatever means is possible. Because of that it is easier to target the sellers then it is the buyers when dealing with such a dilema to fix the problem.

Buyers blend into the gamescape more then sellers. You may be next to a gilbuyer in a party and never know it. As for sellers, well... they are easier to spot.

Yeah, and sometimes, it can lead to totally inoccent players being caused of buying gil, especially at this time of year. It's not hard to find tales of someone who has saved up for months for their SH or vermy, worn it for the first time, and been sent no end of /tells accusing them of buying gil.

But, yes, gilbuyers do tend to use their monies irresposbily. They are the people who PL crafts, who tend not to know their job, who want max lvls now, and generally, have less fun in the game. As wise man say: the journey should be as important as the destination.

I know a Gilbuyer. Well I should say that I know that I know one. How many more I know I don't know.

Her attitude; I work for a living IRL, why should I have to do it here? Oh BTW, she is sitting on over 300 Beastman's seals.

I also know someone who used to occasionaly PL a craft to 60 but he quit his HNM linkshell and hasn't done that since.

The former HMN hunter has a Scorpy +1, the Gilbuyer doesn't.

What does it all mean? Some blow their money no mater how acquired. Some spend carefuly, no mater how acquired.

Too much gil in circulation does this. Too much money is out there, and there's not enough things to buy, so people jack up prices. The value of a single gil has plummeted. Remember being a newbie and selling silk stacks for 10k or less and thinking that was amazing? Now silks are 100k a stack on Hades.

In all my AH surfing, I've never seen a gil seller jack up a price that wasn't jacked up by a real player in the first place. They usually sell it for the last price on AH history.

The problem with gil sellers is they hoard all this gil and never use it. Not using gil is kinda like stuffing money in a mattress, no one but you knows it's there. So it's like the gil sellers' gil doesn't exist because they never buy anything. Until a bunch of people buy up this gil that's been sitting in the gil sellers' mattress, the economy is fine. Once that happens though, bye bye stability, due to the small size of a single server's community.

I was lucky to have my eye on a vermy before the Christmas gil sale. I was scrimping and scrounging for every last gil I could get. I even sold my ranger gear, which I've pretty much perma retired my RNG for a while. Got mine before the huge price increases for 11m. Vermy's had been running 9-10m before the Christmas season. Now they're running... 18m or so. Scorpion harness went from 8m to 16m. Elemental rings (the +5 stat ones) went from 2-3m to 7-8m. Weskits (the BLM tattoo JSE) has gone from being around 3m to 10m and rising. HQ staves (this is currently my next expensive project, as I'm only 4/8 on my HQ collection for my BLM and SMN) have gone from 1-2.5m depending on the staff to 4.5-6m. The formerly cheapest staff (Apollo's) now the most expensive. @.@

And it's not only the big ticket items, it's everything. Though I doubt prices will ever return to normal, I forsee them dropping when the gil sale is over and all the gil sellers get a ton of gil hoarded in their mattresses again.
