account hack?

someone accessed my account (somehow) and sold everything i had.

any idea how they might have done this? (and no i have never given my password to ANYBODY)

i have the name of who did it. because they sent me a /tell laughing about it later

when I forgot to run fraps, I use PRT SCR , close FFXI , go to photoshop/paint and copy past my screenshot

That is horrible. I would report their name to a GM. I'm sure there's a way for that sort of thing to be tracked, even if you didn't get a screenshot.

With the name/server, you can track down their POL account....why not do it yourself if GM's won't?

Have you used any 3rd party programs? Game window minimizer? Bot program? If so, it may have had a keystoke logger and sent them your password.

First, 3rd party programs Do not Break the TOS..this is a common misconception. Look up their stance on Absentee play in your POL viewer. According to their own TOS They allow 3rd party programs SO long as they are not unattended, or circumventing game measures, EG: speed hack is illegal, however Something I have written for alot of people, a Dancing macro, ( Tarus ) which does emotes in specified patterns and says things and accepts donations..is perfectly legal to use. as two good examples.

Next, There are chatlogs maintained in your POL folders on your C Drive..I suggest you search through those chat logs if that person said that, and it was recent you should almost definitaly have a log of it which you can present to a GM, if the GM still does not do anything, Call SE. And keep escalating it until someone helps you. I have found that SE themselves Are Extremely concerned about their customers and Will help. GMs I dont really consider SE...just low wage workers who are collecting a paycheck..there are a few good ones...few..

Don't forget to change your password before you reobtain your items. If you don't, the hacker can always dump your items again.

Also if talking to square doesn't work, you can always make a stink about it on the alakazam boards. If enough of the populace gets rilled up about it, square may do something about it.

At the very least, it will drag the hacker's name through the mud.
