You might be wondering "Well, what's so creppy about that?" I'll tell you. Sunny Lane is an adult film star. Yes, that's right. She does porn and works part-time at a legal brothel in Nevada. Her parents run her site, they're working on her "Real Doll" now, and they watch her films, yet they "Fast forward through the sex scenes." Her mother calls her scenes "Dates" as in, when she's working she'll tell her mom "Yeah, I got four dates tonight." Creepy enough yet?
But yeah...I'm not making this up. This is real. She's a real adult actress and I have seen her "Performing" and, in my honest opinion, she's awful. The IT guy at my job is one of her biggest fans and he showed me a documentary that featured her and her parents, which is where I got my information from and that's why I checked her out.
Now, my parents are somewhat supportive. They're supportive in that realistic way. I know that if they choose not to support me that it probably means I have a snowball's chance in hell of actually succeeding. The good thing about this is that I know that when they're behind me that they see that I am serious and do honestly believe that I will succeed. That said, there's no way my parents would ever be as supportive at all if I or my sister chose to go into any sort of adult entertainment related industry. Not because they don't believe that we could be great at this, but because its such a destructive industry.
I have a friend who is gay who says that he can't understand why people think homosexuality is a conscious decision. Like he says "Why would any sane person choose to be something that is vilified and hated by so many?" I think the same rationale applies to the porn industry. What sane person would choose to have sex with other people in front of a camera? I'm not saying that the people that set up a handicam on their dresser are insane, but think about it. You're choosing a career where you honestly can't have a normal or stable relationship.
I'm a pretty easygoing guy and I have no problem with my girlfriends having male friends, but no matter how much I love a girl there's no way I'd be comfortable with her having sex with other men or even women, for that matter for any reason. Stripping or posing nude for a website/magazine I would be uncomfortable with, but my feelings would depend on whether or not she hid it from me. I wouldn't expect her to come out on the first date and say it, but if she hid it from me and I heard about it six months into the relationship from a friend or coworker that would be a deal-breaker right there. End of relationship. I wouldn't feel comfortable being with someone who hid things like that from me.
So, what do you guys/gals think about this? I think her parents are the types that never say no. I knew kids like that growing up. You know where most of them are now? Six feet under or behind bars. They either pissed off the wrong person, overdosed, or were arrested for attacking someone who wronged them, stealing, or drug possession. No kidding.
My dad was a military man as were both my grandfathers, who served our country in WWII. One of the reasons I am such a history buff and so interested in WWII is mainly because of this. Anyways, back to my point. My parents were the "Iron fist in a velvet glove" types with my mom being the iron fist and my dad being the velvet glove, most of the time. He did discipline when needed but as long as we weren't causing trouble he was totally cool. My point is that I think that effective parents need to set boundaries and be supportive when its merited and above all, be honest. Think about how screwed up my life would be right now if my mom and dad supported me at nine years old when I wanted to grow up to become a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.
They did buy me the Ninja Turtle action figures and related paraphernalia for my birthday/christmas, go with me to see the movies, and bought me two copies of the first film and one of the second because I wore out my first copy of the first film. By the time the replacement and the copy of the second movie were nearing the end of their lives I had moved on to the power rangers. What can I say? The pink ranger was hot and I was about thirteen when that show premiered.
I work with some gay peeps and they are, perhaps, even more fun then the straight ones!
