Did you get it from one of the new battlefield fights in Aht Urghan?

I think I saw a post somewhere last night that said the chocobo eggs were dropping from those battles.

Yup it was from "Happy Caster" in Mount Whatsits.

First fight was surprisingly easy then next 3 he one-shotted the MNKs and decimated the rest of us pretty much, no idea why

I got one too... they also drop from Shadows of the Mind at the Jade Sepulchur every time.

Various other drops we saw... there was 1-2 big money items every round:
Tournament lance, khroma ore, luminium ore, dragon talon,
Protectra IV, Erase...
