Making the stuff, and working with people who play with the stuff (at least if it requires imagination), is the fun part.

Actually both.

The cat can be seen as a specific subset of floggers. 9 lashes, materials of the lashes can vary. That one is nylon I think.

I like the knots on the ends of that one's lashes. I have friends who would drool over it.

Don't think of stuff as heavy as medieval reenactors wear, nor most of the stuff in museums. Think almost as light as butcher's safety cloth, about like 18th century Persian chainmail. It would have to have large enough diameter rings to leave patterns but light enough so skin doesn't break. Welded or riveted links are a must.
