Seeing as I haven't seen anyone post this yet, here ya go.
August will see adjustments to two-handed weapon wielding and several jobs.
If you missed our description of grips and two-handed weapons, be sure to check it out in the August 14th edition of Topics. In this edition, we will be covering job enhancements.

Beastmaster

The duration for which a beastmaster can maintain a pet invoked with the "Call Beast" ability will be extended. The new length of time, though varying depending on the type of pet brought forth, may be up to 90 minutes.
Additionally, when not engaged in combat, pet healing will be possible through use of the "Stay" ability. Finally, the experience penalty previously incurred by a beastmaster while using a charmed monster will be done away with.

Corsair

After the version update, corsairs across Vana'diel will be the happy recipients of several job enhancements.
For starters, the effect of Phantom Roll will be augmented so that the effects can be felt even when neither a large nor Lucky Roll is made. To make a comparison, the efficacy of a corsair's roll will generally exceed that of a bard's song. Should a corsair roll an 11, the efficacy will, for the most part, exceed that of two bard's songs.

The length of immobility a corsair suffers during their rolls has also been shortened. In addition, the merit point-accessible ability "Fold" will function to reduce the likelihood of busting, as well as modifying the effect of rolls.

We will also be adding new gear that will further increase the range of Phantom Roll. When using the roll and this gear in tandem, even players engaged in combat at some distance from the corsair will fall within the area of effect. And as if that weren't enough, players can even expect new ammunition with rather enticing damage ratings.

Puppetmaster

The update also brings with it two all-new heads to supplement the puppetmaster's arsenal of automaton accoutrements.
The primary purpose of both heads is to grant magic bonuses: one for healing, and the other, elemental. For example, equipping the "healing" head will cause an automaton to undergo a healing magic power enhancement. As a result, subsequent cure spells will encompass all party members, rather than the puppetmaster alone.

Careful reconsideration has led us to raise the current skill limits for automatons as well. With these increases, puppetmasters can expect to see improved performance from their automata in such areas as attack power and accuracy, magic accuracy, and more!

I don't know about Bst. But I'm fairly sure every Pup and Cor will spontaneously orgasm upon reading this. The Elemental and Healing heads were something we wanted. But increased skill caps? And aoe cures from the automaton? Jesus tap dancing christ. <3 you SE.

SE you guare the sons of the devil. If there were a reason Id continue playing FFXI, it would be because of this update. But you know what? Too little too late. Ive already dealt with the frustration of taking Corsair to lvl 41 diong gimp dmg, and seeing ppl out of roll range. Good on ya SE. Your just 3 days too late...

No more exp penalty for BST?

SE has gone insane and BST's everywhere will love them for it.

I didn't notice the exp penalty bit, that makes leveling it before Release a lot easier and leveling in general easier too :)

I am a happy kitty, my COR will be bitching (more so) :)

You know, I never read that exp thing till now. >.< I was too caught up on the Cor and Pup things. That's awesome news for Bst's too. Problem is I can just imagine the bitching from other jobs.

How so?

Its a minor adjustment that SE has been heading towards for BST for sometime now since they did away with the EXP penalty when they used the Call Beast ability. I've been kind of expecting it for awhile now.

The reaction towards it that I've seen/heard about are more along the lines of "its about time" and "bst will really pwn now that they can keep pets out forever."

I think so many jobs solo for exp now one way or another that its no longer a case of BST being pariahs (and therefore a threat for some reason) as being sympathized with since more of the general population have started to realize that soloing for exp is damned hard even with jobs that are good at it.


The change to COR for me is a surprise- I never thought SE would COR rolls over that of BRD songs to that extent. The CORs in my linkshell are very happy :lol:

The better damage and new gear for Phantom Roll is what we've been asking for for quite a quite but the increased buffage did surprised me. I wonder if it'll be for any situation or just when there's a job in party to support the roll, I'm guessing the former from the way it's worded.

Speaking as a bard. :cry:

Why so mean? I never said nothing. I'm very glad Cor's get this. In my opinion, their buffs need this. And if you notice, they can still get less of an effect then a Bard if they roll bad.

My position does not feel threatened at all in a party because there are still things a Bard can do that a Cor can not. All I see this doing is finally putting us on equal ground.

I'd love to drop soul voice Minuet and see a Chaos Roll land on 11.

Nine hours server-side is a pretty huge update, but I don't think there will be a significant size to the client update. Client would need the new 2H grip icons and data, but that's really about it. Hmm, the choco thing might be pretty big. I always forget about that -- imho, all the choco breeding is pointless since you can't really use them in game for anything.

<3 my chocos :)

The existance of the chocobo whistle is more than enough reason for all the time I've spent raising my babies. I OP warp a ton and being able to have a chocobo on call when I arrive is worth the 1k cost per ride to me.
