BTW, it's a very nice looking cake! Great decorating job. ^^

IMHO, excessive time to increase skill is far far better than what some other games do (eg. WoW & Vanguard). There, when you want a new skill, you have to head back to town and buy it. It sounds like a cool idea when you consider it as a story and not a game (running off to a teacher to be taugh...

  I love it :D :?: Sounds a bit Mark Twainish to me too for some reason. Sammy was the original Curmudgeon. 'Dunno why, but your reference to Clemens reminded me of this Why the Chicken Crossed the Road IMHO, The best one is the Hemingway Chicken followed closely by the Seuss. There needs...

There's no way to catch a smart tool user anyway: you just block reading of the process list and/or process memory. I was speaking about the legal angle. Personally, I just view the TOS as a public announcement of things they don't want people to do and which they may decide to terminate their busin...

If you want to be strict about the TOS it says 3rd party software. This implies that's it's perfectly OK to write your own software and use that. You are the "2nd party" in the two-party agreement (SE is first). How can they tell the difference between code you wrote and what someone else ...

It varies a lot by time of day. A while ago, mornings was pure healers while evenings was pure melee. It shifts around as you level up, too. It's almost as bad as the AF2 clumping in dynamis (I swear we're down to gearing mannequins with whm af2 bodies ><).

Your job defines you

Yes, really, it does. Not so much if you're a car mechanic or a waitress, but if you're in any of the "professional" fields, you're type-cast the instant you open your mouth. Lawyers lie all the time, not only when they open their mouths. Doctors go home and do surgery on their cats becaus...

Just ignore the flame-bait. 'Dun worry that anyone gives it even half a mind, Tivia. One thing to watch out for is that the GMs might not send a tell. They might do something else entirely -- like put a pop-up on your screen to be clicked by you within a certain time to test for AFK or port you to j...

I think that this issue is almost certainly due to GM control issues. SE (any MMORPG really) ends up having HUGE problems if they give GMs any leeway in making decisions about who should be banned and who shouldn't. A lot of GMs may not play the game or even any MMORPG at all; they end up really hat...

They're all doable as nin/whm. I've solo'd all the types of 'taurs as NIN/whm before -- even the IT+ ones (though that's scary even when duo'd). The VT ones are pretty easy for a NIN/whm to do. There aren't any that are under VT that I know of, though. I prefer the level 50 Sacrarium ones, myself. '...

I do however want to become a good Dark Knight. A job that not many players touch or have the patience to lvl up. DRK has a huge negative stereotype attached to it at low levels. First, because it's a big-number job, it attracts a lot of players that like to brag. Second, because most of those play...

Last Friday we just cleaned up on triggers. Despot x 2, Faust, SC plus a Suzy kill. It was so weirdly uncamped I was wondering if an earthquake had flattened all of China -- or at least whatever city the RMT call home.

I hope it continues.

That means another 6 weeks *minimum* -- probably more like 8-10 considering the inevitable organizational issues running a static for that long. That's what I truly despise about assaults. do you know how much trouble it is getting help for something that lil%&*# can solo? One of the things I like to point out about help is that if you need a group to help you get something when there's absolutely nothing in it for the rest of the group, think about the relative efforts involved....

Sky is fun without the RMT crawling all over it. ^^ Here're some tips on Zippy -- don't let anyone melee him unless you have a ton of extra healers. All they do is feed him so much TP that his AE spam becomes unmanageable. We almost always use nin or pld/nin to tank him; pld/war is ok if you have ex...

The most original tank idea I saw in a long while was the Inquisitor for Vanguard, but it never made it into release. Basically, it didn't melee and didn't use armor. Instead, all it's abilities were magic driven. Torment for hate, fear for defensive, that kind of thing. Every tank in every other MM...

1, NINs and PLDs are not interchangeable in many end game activities. They're more interchangeable than not. We've found that mostly PLD is more useful than NIN in almost every situation, but that a really good NIN can still do pretty much everything a PLD/nin can do. For instance, I tank Faust on ...

Actually, the last thing we need are more tanks. Our shell has waaaay too many already. We don't need any more melee, too. We do need more: Ranged DD -- any kind, just as long as it can do good damage under all circumstances Ranged DD with high-damage 2H's and burst-DD JA's are even better. Better s...

I liked the Moblin BC -- it's just about right for a mission difficulty, IMHO. It's pretty easy compared to other PMs, but it gives a well prepared group a fun fight without requiring a perfect job mix or excessive effort. The airship is another fun one. If you want to skill up fast and cheap, use Stone Cheese, not Yagudo drinks. The ingredients are dirt cheap from vendors and stackable and the product stacks, too.
