Re: Its that time of month again...
SE just took out the ban-stick: - Gil and item exchange for real world money cases: June 26, Approx. 1000 cases I bolded the part I find interesting- if I'm reading it correctly they banned 1k accounts for gil-buying. I think this is the first time I've seen them actually announce banning anyone fo...

I'll never move, but to comment on moving mules -- if I were to move, I'd certainly move al my mules, too. They all have 80 bank slots and at least 40 inventory and one has 80 inventory along with rank 5 for airship. That was fun getting a level 1 character to rank 5. Too bad Dynamis has a level lim...

I can't imagine leaving Bismarck for another server with all the nice people I know here. BTW, just a slight caution to those jumping around: try not to jump blind. I'd suggest making a move for positive reasons rather than negative; eg. move because you have friends on another server and want to pl...

One trick for the 3 Mithra fight is to pull them away from their spawn points (pretty far away), fight and kill at least one (hopefully 2), then let them walk back to spawn point. Stand up (RR), then kill the remainder. IIRC, you can sleep the pets, but one of the mithra can wake her pet back up. So...

The way to MPK these days is a bit more involved. Find a critter that has an AE damage move, pull it, call-for-help, then stand it on the person you want to kill and keep it alive until it does enough AE moves to slay the AFK/bot. If you don't CFH, it's AE isn't supposed to hit anyone but those on t...

BTW, I just recalled that PCB application is like salts and fish and other items in PMs: it locks out your JAs and spells for a bit. Also, I seem to recall that the specials used when U/O go wild reset hate and/or petrify. Net result of this is: don't make your tank the primary PCB applier. If petri...

The only real trick to 6-4 is making sure you have enough PCB's to neutralize the rampage-mode on the critters. I did this a looong time ago with (I think): PLD, NIN (me), BLM, THF, WHM, RDM. It went extremely smooth; success on first run gave me a completely false impression of how hard this fight ...

Vanguard is only going to have four (4!) servers after their merger. Soooo many people told them exactly what was wrong and how to fix it during beta, but they just ignored everyone and plowed ahead. When you have a game that only 5% of the market can even run and so many bugs that even die hard fan...

Finally got an Ungur Boomerang . Been wanting one since about forever, too. When our group got down to the area, we weren't expecting to find a crowd, but it was the same old competition thing. Fortunately, Ungur has a PH that doesn't spawn unless she's due and the PH was up. So, we knew it was just...

The USA has been very carefully cultivating enemies in the 3rd world since the 1950s. It's really not all that surprising that there would be some negative repercussions from what we've been doing for such a long period of time. I'm just thankful that there's no oil in North Korea. The news industry...

It's great to see PUP finding some more uses. Congrats on 2-5; that's a fun fight. IMHO, it's too bad most of the PUP uses are niche-only. I think the job could really do with some fleshing out -- particularly giving it primary role abilities. -- BST is awesome on mammets, too -- and so is SMN. All ...

You need a lot of bards for einherjar. Perhaps once we figure out the precise agro transfer method, that won't be true, but for now, it's all about the bards. They're the only job that can reliably sleep undead and most of the critters in Einherjar are undead. Agro seems to be shared similar to Angr...

I like that FFXI is still fun to play on a part-time basis. I log in only a few times a week myself (Dynamis and other shell events only). I played WoW and it just got so old so fast. Lots of fun while it lasted, but after 3 months, I had 3 characters to level cap and with full gear. I was so bored,...

The only real problem with DRG is that it's not terribly useful for level 75 things. It's a great XP job. When you're putting together alliances for something at 75 and you have a DRG along, you always stick them someplace at the end and usually wish that person had ANY other job rather than DRG (we...

Nyzul Isle is interesting and challenging- just the rewards really don't equal the effort involved for me and my friends at the moment. The new area? We'll see, but we're really not expecting much. Yeah, Nyzul fails due to the tag requirement. I can't get people interested in doing it. I'm kind of ...

Existing Rewards In answer to requests from many players, a number of rewards will once again become available. This change will be put into effect for selected quests and missions with multiple reward choices, such as Divine Might, Apocalypse Nigh, and the Chains of Promathia storyline. We hope th...

My issues with the French (and I've run into a few native Frenchmen) is the overwhelming superiority a lot of them have towards the world in general and America in particular. Not all, but enough have that the French society just irritates me. The french are a lot like sorority girls. They're a lot...

The problem with running games on other than real Windows is DirectX. A lot of games use it and the emulation for it on non-Windows OS's lags far behind the real thing. If the games you like happen to use OpenGL instead of DirectX, you're in luck and likely won't have any problems at all on non-Wind...

Almost no one does assaults where I am -- at least that I know of. I know a couple people that are in a static assault group, but they bitch *constantly* about how hard it is to keep it together. The folks I see who drool over Salvage and AP gear are all folks that are either currently under 75 or a...
